Yes, the Motel Zero is well named. We were greeted by the aggressive owner/manager who has the NAB terminal set up to show on the screen that regular credit cards are Premium cards, so he can charge a gouging 2.5% surcharge if you use one. Premium means it is tied to rewards and points schemes he said - though it's none of his business - and he is reclaiming the bank fees if you use one. Don't use a credit card, or he will give your card back if you complain, and tell you to use a non-premium card instead. His wife heard my complaint about the high fee and his manner of speaking to me, and she called out for the fee to be cancelled, only to be told to "Shut up, <name>". He won't include the card fee he is actually charged in the expensive room charge, preferring to go for more.
Greedy and rude, but he didn't care as he said he only had 2 rooms left.

Not everything worked in the room, like the old clock radio, the old-fashioned gloomy 25W bedside globe, and the bleach on the bathroom mould.
The Motel room guide is totally unprofessional, looking like it was written by a child and not living up to the standard of this Motel Chain. It gave us a good laugh. Hopefully the services they offer are better than the standard of the writing. But we weren't going to give them any more of our money to try them.
As with another review, the trains are noisy at night.
The workers who stayed in the rooms around us were nice guys, but got up at 5am to go outside for their first smoke, and to have their smokers' lung clearing moist coughs.

Even though we unexpectedly could see the pretty Nhill Show fireworks display from the balcony when we were there, we should have moved on to another town instead, rather than stay at this motel.
