“Wonderful, Warm, Welcoming = Wunderbar (in German)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

The not-for-profit Chrysalis Insight Inc that I chair took 28 people to The Grange in Lancefield at 50 Lancefield - Melbourne Rd. Manager Bev, Kim, Maureen (?) and Chef Jason were the best. Nothing was too much - no request to big. The group consisted of people who mostly didn't know each other and over the Saturday and Sunday morning were in engaged in activities that they probably never tried. It was a perfect venue to run parallel workshops and all the conference equipment worked first time. The bar with the pool table, the dining room and all the beautiful well maintained cottage garden with tables and chairs everywhere made it the perfect venue for our join-up weekend. I will try to bring all my groups there because it sure felt like a home away from home where you can relax and enjoy.

“worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

we stayed there for two nights during a business workshop and found the amenities to be clean and reasonable mordern

the location is good being just 40 mins or so from the airport, and was a pleasent change from the city venues

the working rooms were quite good and the one were were using had a bar area annexed to it that included a lounge, fireplace, pool table, and a reasonably stocked bar so we could relax each evening in a private ares

the food in the Coachhouse restaurant was good and offered a reasonable varitey throughout the day, but some of the wines are a bit light

i would certainly stay there again for business or pleasure

Room Tip: try for a room on the top floors so you dont get the plumbing noise

“Cheap and nasty in a beautiful area such a shame!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2011

I stayed at The Grange Lancefield on the 28th of May 2011. I was staying there as my friend got married and had her reception at the Grange. On a positive note the reception venue was perfect. The food was great and the room was nice and warm as it was freezing outside.
My whole stay was not good. We booked our room more than a month before her wedding. We rang up and booked a room, then called straight back to see if we could have a spa room. They said yes but it was an extra $20 so we booked a spa room. We paid in full over the phone. We received a cheque in the mail for $20 with no letter or card explaining what it was. My partner recieved an email saying that they had made a mistake with our booking and there was no spa room avaliable. No apology and they are a winery you would think a complimentary bottle of wine would have been a nice gesture. I found out through the bride the spa rooms were all pre-booked for the few families as they are the bigger rooms. We checked in at 3pm reception was at 4:30pm. Our room was freezing cold there was a split system in the room why couldn't they turn it on even at a low temperature to take the chill out of the room? Our room was NOT GOOD. We booked a superior king room our bed was 2 SINGLE BEDS PUSHED TOGETHER!!!! To make matters worse the beds were different heights and one was soft and nice the other was rock hard. There was a gap between the beds that made the beds even more uncomfortable! The bathroom was a good size and the shower was nice. We were told that all rooms had a bath when we booked the first time but this is not the case. We only had a shower so did even one we spoke to at the wedding. Our toilet seat was cracked and it pinched our butts. The complimentary bathroom products were not anything special. Just shampoo, conditioner and bath gel. There was also a shower cap (which was not in the box) and a couple of sanitary bags. The walls in the rooms are very thin and you can clearly hear the people next doors conversations. The breakfast in the morning was nicely cooked and set out. The room the breakfast was held was beautiful but it was freezing cold a nice warm inviting room would have been much better, The staff are great and friendly. I must add we are from this area so the cold is not something that is new to us, we booked our room as we didnt have our child and decided to have a drink and make a night of it. Not a good weekend away without our child. We had less sleep and were more uncomfortable than a night with our 2 year old!!

Room Tip: Book a spa room hopefully its better

“Fantastic place for group to stay and party.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2010

Twenty of us recently stayed at Cleveland Winery for our end of year work party and we had a ball. The property is beautiful with many different areas to relax in; the arrangement of the buildings offers an eclectic mixture of old and new, all blended together beautifully.
The staff were warm and friendly yet unobtrusive and they really made sure everything was just right for us.
We loved the use of the Common Room where we were able to have drinks and nibbles while we played pool or relaxed on the comfy sofas watching the huge television.
Dinner was lovely in the Carriage House Restaurant; the views over the surrounding countryside were magnificent . Once again the staff were warm and friendly adn did a great job looking after us.
There was a wedding on at the same time that we were there but because of how the pproperty is setout we were hardly aware of it.
I would highly recommend Cleveland Winery, especially for a group.

“Lovely gardens, no wine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

Very peaceful property, room quite large but not cleaned very well, nothing special here, hot breakfast was included, dinner was available but went to pub for dinner instead. Lovely monthly market in the town of Lancefield and great Antique centre. Very reasonable for overnight stay in the country, not too far from Melbourne, moved on to Daylesford for weekend round trip. Much quieter than Daylesford area, no restaurants except pub. Sunday pizza oven for lunch time, Sundays only, very quaint, lovely lounge area to relax and watch TV and play pool. Cellar Door not open. Shame about that.
