I stayed at The Grange Lancefield on the 28th of May 2011. I was staying there as my friend got married and had her reception at the Grange. On a positive note the reception venue was perfect. The food was great and the room was nice and warm as it was freezing outside.
My whole stay was not good. We booked our room more than a month before her wedding. We rang up and booked a room, then called straight back to see if we could have a spa room. They said yes but it was an extra $20 so we booked a spa room. We paid in full over the phone. We received a cheque in the mail for $20 with no letter or card explaining what it was. My partner recieved an email saying that they had made a mistake with our booking and there was no spa room avaliable. No apology and they are a winery you would think a complimentary bottle of wine would have been a nice gesture. I found out through the bride the spa rooms were all pre-booked for the few families as they are the bigger rooms. We checked in at 3pm reception was at 4:30pm. Our room was freezing cold there was a split system in the room why couldn't they turn it on even at a low temperature to take the chill out of the room? Our room was NOT GOOD. We booked a superior king room our bed was 2 SINGLE BEDS PUSHED TOGETHER!!!! To make matters worse the beds were different heights and one was soft and nice the other was rock hard. There was a gap between the beds that made the beds even more uncomfortable! The bathroom was a good size and the shower was nice. We were told that all rooms had a bath when we booked the first time but this is not the case. We only had a shower so did even one we spoke to at the wedding. Our toilet seat was cracked and it pinched our butts. The complimentary bathroom products were not anything special. Just shampoo, conditioner and bath gel. There was also a shower cap (which was not in the box) and a couple of sanitary bags. The walls in the rooms are very thin and you can clearly hear the people next doors conversations. The breakfast in the morning was nicely cooked and set out. The room the breakfast was held was beautiful but it was freezing cold a nice warm inviting room would have been much better, The staff are great and friendly. I must add we are from this area so the cold is not something that is new to us, we booked our room as we didnt have our child and decided to have a drink and make a night of it. Not a good weekend away without our child. We had less sleep and were more uncomfortable than a night with our 2 year old!!
