“Just wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Had a wonderful 4 nights at this lovely old guesthouse, owners are just lovely and will recommend places to eat and things to do. This was out 4th time here and by no means will it be the last time. Breakfast is just divine, fruit bowl must be the best with cherries and fresh stone fruits, followed by cooked breakfast with toast from speciality bread.

“Quite nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We stayed recently just for a night. It's a lovely old property and the owners are very present and (slightly over) attentive. We had a great room although we felt it was expensive. The only suggestions I would make are that I would have liked to have had the choice of eating inside (but tables had all been moved outside and I really didn't want to ask and draw attention to myself) we also felt that the cooked breakfast had been prepared too early.

“A bit late but the comments will be worth it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Our B&B group (5 couples) stayed at FInches in winter 2007. Out of 12 years of annual B&B trips, Finches was the best accommodation we have experienced. I don't remember any problems - the breakfast was a lovely spread of fresh fruit, thick yoghurt, toast, good coffee, etc etc. The majority of us used the back queen rooms which were comfortable and warm. Peter & Carol we will be back to visit you again soon!

Room Tip: The back more modern rooms have bigger beds (I am always careful to ask as I hate sleeping in double...

“Our favourite B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

My wife and I have stayed at Finches on many occasions across the past 7 years. We have taken friends from overseas there and on this last occasion I stayed one night with my father en-route between Melbourne and Canberra. I have recommended Finches to friends and they have always reported back positively.

Finches is a very special B&B experience. The house itself is historic and beautiful. It is in a beautiful garden setting and it is a delight to sit on the verandah that runs around most of the house and just relax. The house is set in a leafy and quiet street in easy strolling distance from the town's main street.

Inside the house is charming. It has tasteful decoration throughout, it is always spotlesly clean, has comfortable beds, a large lounge with TV where it is pleasant to relax with other guests and in the cooler months wood fires in the lounge and breakfast rooms. It has a great ambience.

Breakfasts at Finches are also a treat - fresh fruit salads and freshly squeezed juices, a good range of cereals and well cooked traditional breakfasts.

Peter and Carole, our hosts at Finches, are both simply lovely people. Kind, thoughtful and always attentive to guests needs.

We really enjoy visiting the Beechworth area, the experience is made more special by the opportunity to stay at this lovely B&B.

“A beautiful old world experience that is both welcoming and relaxing.”

Finches is always our favourite place to relax, unwind and recharge our batteries. We have been regular guests of Peter and Carol's for the past nine years and have found them to be immpecable hosts. They are an extremely friendly, respectful couple, who have an amazing talent for making you feel welcome in their home. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are very comfortable, impecably clean and attractive and have been faithfully decorated to reflect the Victorian era. The living areas are equiped with open fires, TVs and tea-making facilities. We celebrated my wife's birthday at Finches with family and friends and it remains a lasting memory of a truly magnificent weekend. Peter's breakfasts are fabulous, with enough variety to cater to every taste. We cannot recommend Finches too highly.

Room Tip: Take the time to soak up the atmosphere; relax.
