If you're looking for a place to stay while visiting Sewanee, the Smokehouse is a great alternative. There are slim pickings in the area as far as hotels go, and most are filled early for Sewanee events such as Parent's Weekend and Homecoming, so book as early as possible. We've always stayed in the cabins which are cozy and charming in their decor. Very utilitarian, not luxurious by any means, but you can bring your pets which is a huge plus. Also, the lunch buffet is wonderful and the little General Store attached to the main building has some interesting Smokey Mountain merchandise. It's a very convenient home away from home and if you have a student that's missing his/her dog, they'll love the place too!

This place is rather large with the smoke house restaurant and rooms and cabins. Very clean. I am impressed at the reasonable rates for this nice property. Pet friendly. Live music on Fri and Sat. Spacious grounds. Nice pool. Would recommend you stay here.

We had a wonderful, charming cabin with a big hot tub and wood-burning fireplace, with full kitchen and 2 bedrooms. Loved the lodge decor. Our queen beds were super comfortable with premium linens and soft pretty quilts and lots of good pillows. Leather furniture, coffee table in front of the flatscreen with wifi and cable. Better than home! :) We ate dinner and breakfast in the smokehouse restaurant and loved the TN barbeque southern-style food. The nostalgia alone is worth the trip! Super nice place! I will be back!
