“We'll be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We stayed at Rydges Cronulla a few weeks ago, and I felt compelled to say what a fabulous stay we had! The staff were so friendly and professional, and the food was just amazing. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best, however the staff made sure we were well entertained, and always offered us plenty to do. Special thanks for the gentlemen at reception, and the manager in the restaurant (sorry, really bad with names). Thank you so much for looking after us, we will be back!

Room Tip: Definately go for the Ocean View room, a little more expensive but definately worth waking up to in...

Thank you for your kind review. Unfortunately we are unable to control the weather, which means you will need to come out to Cronulla again to experience a night stay with a sunny day. I am glad that the things within our hotel we can control were to your liking. Our staff are extremely proud of the job they do here at Rydges Cronulla

“Horses for Courses”

Look, this is a difficult place to review. We start with the preface. It has to be scaled for what it is and where it is. Scale it the same way you would a sophisticated CBD hotel and it would fail. But put it, where it is...in "The Shire", by a beach and it must be lifted! Sooo read the following in that light and....a word to management...it should be read in that light..

The great setting of course has nothing to do with the management of the hotel, so no credit there. But the staff are very pleasant in a relaxed "Shire" sort of way. Sooo can't compare to the staff of say the Sir Stamford in the city or the Westin. But it is very appropriate for a "g'day" sort of environment ; they were very friendly and welcoming- so no negative marks there.

Our room was clean and very tidy I must say, so I can't share any of the condemnations that many level in some of the other reviews. The rooms were of course not sophisticated, (big sink in the lounge room etc), but this hotel is set in a holiday style environment where families are expected and so the feel was (bring in the sand) , hang the towels over the balcony and wash up...so very appropriate.

The views are good of course. And lovely to sit on the balcony at sunset.

The bedroom was surprising small however given the size of the living area - but heck - you just go there to sleep and lie (etc - he giggles) in the bed.

Did not use the restaurant, no point when a particularly good one is just outside down by the beach (another review later on perhaps?...)

So all in all, a pleasant, unsophisticated, feel good vibe.

It is exy for the quality of the hotel over all, but I suspect has to be in order to maintain the facility. So while it is in the same price range as the better hotels in the city, and overpriced in that sense, one sort of has to forgive it all...otherwise it would not be there at all. And that would be a pity!

Thank you for your wonderful review. We certainly do have some great view from our balconies.
Our staff here at Rydges Cronulla, are exactly how you described. Being a beach location they are relaxed in appearance however very proud of the job they do and make sure they do it right.
I do hope next time you’re in town you try our restaurant. Showcasing flavours from the Latin world, in Tapas and A La Carte styles.

“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The hotel has friendly and helpful staff. The lobby, bar and restaurant are nicely decorated and comfortable. We did not use the pool and spa area but from the view of our hotel room it looked well maintained and with comfortable deck chairs.
The room (queen bed with ocean view) was large with a nice balcony and two comfortable lounge chairs, a desk with office chair. Flat screen TV with inputs for video (component and HDMI). Internet is supposed to be "broadband" but not really very fast ad - like in all Rydges hotels) fairly expensive - even as a "Priority Guest".

The restaurant has a varied Spanish orientated menu. Service was very friendly but could have been a bit faster at times. The food was well prepared and tasty and portions sufficient.

Check out was fast (but I think because of the season a low occupancy rate). Only minus was that I only got to billto check after I had paid and some corrections had to be made afterwards - which could have been prevented by letting me check the bill first.
Parking is at a $ 15 surcharge in a not too big underground garage - a bit of manoevring to get in the fairly narrow spaces.

All in all a pleasant stay in a hotel with a splendid view (from the 9th floor - sea view room)

Room Tip: The higher the better.

“The comfortable bed is the saving grace....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Although the location is good and the service was adequate, the room needs to be gutted and completely renovated. Filthy carpet (still wet from a red wine spill), pitted tiles in the bathroom and grotty balcony. As I said in the title, the bed is very good and I had a good night sleep, even though drunkards were yelling our from adjacent balconies and urinating into the pool from their rooms. Entertainment included a street brawl with 6 police cars in attendance at the hotel opposite - Cronulla is not a good location for peace & quiet or families....not the hotel's fault but just be warned....

“Service is excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

After reading some ordinary reviews, we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The service was above average, with all people we encountered, including the cleaners, making a special effort to make us feel welcome. The views were great, as was the room size, spa and bed comfort. The bathroom and furnishings were a little dated and tried-looking, which is the reason I have deducted a star. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet - great range of options and pleasant setting.

Thank you for taking time to review our hotel.

As breakfast is the most important meal of the day, we take it extremely seriously. We have worked hard in presenting the buffet in a new and fun way, as we believe you eat with your eyes.

I will make sure to pass on your comment top our food and beverage team, as they will be happy to hear that their hard work is making a difference.
