“This place ran away from Cancun Mexico.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stayed here and it reminded me of a cheaper basic hotel that I rented when I went to Cancun spring break. That being said the Pros: Affordable, Clean, Right in the middle of popular area,Awsome beach view room .( for the peanuts that it costs upgradge to the ocean view room). CONS: food is not that great but not bad for last minute, this place is old , old look old decor, beds are old and worn, i changed from the original room they gave me to a ocean view room and both beds are the worst, the TV in the room is an old 32 inch tube tv that the ciolor ifades in and out both rooms same issue, bathrroom is tiny and unless your a 8 year old boy the seat will feel tiny lol. anyway im not trying to trash the place at all, they treated me well here nobody here goes out of there way to make you feel welcome thou. Im just saying they rool the carpet out for you at trumps. oh yeah the huge amount of elderly people here.it was old people and me. i hope this helped

Room Tip: spend the money and upgrade to an ocean view for 10 dollars a day additional.

“Great Hotel for The Budget Traveler!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The long and short of the matter is this: if you're used to the Ritz Carlton or W, this will not be the hotel for you. But if you're used to mid-range hotels, that are clean and won't break your bank account look no further.

A friend and I stayed here for a week in September 2011. And after reading many of the reviews here, were quite skeptical. Honestly we didn't know what to expect and were ever bit prepared to check for bedbugs and the like (which we actually did!) but thankfully, we were wonderfully surprised! This wound up being a great hotel for the price (around $70/night booked through Travelocity)!

First off, the location of the hotel could not be beat! There was a bus stop right outside the door that took you straight to South Beach (about a 40min trip with stops) and there is also a car rental place attached to the hotel itself. It was also right across the street from many eateries, a few shops and a large grocery store. There was also a complimentary shuttle bus that would take you to the mall or South Beach and although the times it ran were limited, it was still nice to have the option available.

Regarding the hotel itself, the lobby was a little dated decor-wise and the elevators a little small, so you may prefer the stairs. However we were thoroughly happy with our room itself! It was a nice size (there was no carpet) and very clean! It also had a little balcony with a view of the ocean which was nice as well. There was also a pool outside and a hot tub that looked a little old but worked perfectly. There was also a restaurant inside and this was where your complimentary breakfast was. Now I will say this, their continental breakfast needs a bit of work. It was basically your choice of bagel or cereal, with a little (and I mean little-like shot glass size) cup of orange, with coffee or milk. I'm assuming this was the hotels way of getting someone to order off the menu instead, so one may just be better off going across the street to the Burger King for breakfast. However I will give them points for at least having the waiters serve it to you with a smile. Majority of the guests there were extremely quiet save 1 night where some intoxicated guests were in the hallway singing very loudly at 3 am. But other than that, there was no major issues of noise. The rooms also do not have a microwave so one should prepare for that.

Outside we found the beach to be quiet and well kept but regarding the lounge chairs, everything most other reviewers said is true. You could not take them remotely close to the beach and several of them were so worn, you probably wouldn't want to. So me and my friend just opted for towels instead which worked out perfectly.

Regarding hotel staff, everyone was extremely helpful and very friendly. Although the housekeepers didn't seem to speak the best English, they still managed to always greet us with a hello and smile. The front desk lady was also very courteous and helpful. Even after getting chewed out by someone (I overheard this and it was not pretty), she still managed to turn around and greet me and my friend with the biggest smile and a friendly attitude as if nothing had happened. So props to her for not letting a bad experience ruin her customer service.

Overall this really was a happy experience for both myself and my friend. We would definitely without hesitation stay again!

This hotel would probably be most enjoyed by young couples just starting out, families, small grouping of friends or solo travelers. I don't think it would be enjoyed by honeymooners, corporate execs or those on business (as some amenities are limited) or rowdy crowds (the hotel was pretty quiet during our stay).

“Will not return.”

The following are reasons I would not stay at this hotel again:
1. The staff at the front desk were not inviting or helpful and, in fact, made my friend cry because staff on their end entered the wrong dates for our stay.
2. The hallways are tiled and the walls are paper thin. We heard every noise and TV program our neighbors were watching.
3. The food was sub-par at best. Especially the breakfast, I've never had worse pancakes in my life.
4. The rooms lacked serious decor and even the pictures over the bed had red dots on them like there were purchased at a yard sale.

One positive is that we had an ocean view room that was spectacular. If you have to stay at this hotel, spring for the ocean view and your stay might be tolerable.

“One night only”

Stayed here for 3 nights - before exploring south Florida. The hotel is a little tired and in need of some major renovations however, we had a very pleasant stay. The restraurant served good all American breakfasts and were very reasonably priced. Pool area had plenty of loungers even though you had to pay for them. Hotel is right on the beach and not too far from the shopping centres. Overall a good one/two night hotel but would not want to stay for a week.

Room Tip: Don't expect too much as hogtel is looking tired.

honestly for what you pay at this hotel i would look for something else, i paid 71$ a night for a room with no a/c, didn't get sheets changes in 6 days, view was horrible it was of hotel roof windows did not open, no microwave in room, door was way too small for door frame you could see in hallway around the edges of door, bed was so bad(overused) i had to get back pain pills after 4 days, had to use employers break room microwave, there is no fitness room they don't even offer continental breakfast even at $71 a night that's a separate charge, worst thing to watch for is there RESORT FEE they will tell you when you are checking in for things like shuttle to beach ,,beach is in back hotel, shuttle to mall, bus stop is right out side it is 10$ a day which is NOT optional i didn't use any services for the resort fee, do not talk with Micheal front desk manager he is very rude, don't stay here find some where better and money worthy

Room Tip: i was in 304 my view was the roof of hotel
