We loved our week at los Cocos. Very clean, super friendly, well managed, unpretentious food, charming Mexican families, affordable; we'd come back. If you are hyper sensitive to boisterous noisy fun, don't come. If you have a sense of entitlement about gourmet food, this is not for you. The food was plentiful and varied. There was always juices, fresh fruits and veggies, fresh baking, cheeses, soups but some of the entrees were a wee bit greasy. Yet we enjoyed every meal. The wine is drinkable. The bar drinks a bit on the sugary side but the tequilas were fine. The bartenders were generous. Los Cocos has a huge variety of rooms. Our had a private balcony and looked west towards the surrounding hills with a little bit of sea view. It was a little close to the kitchen though. Some of the kitchen staff, very early and very late, need to keep their voices down. What charmed us most was the delightful multi-generational Mexican families who use this resort. You've never seen so many beautiful and unspoilt children! The town of Guayabitos is a bit tacky and full of gringo pensioners but you can walk to the village of Ayala with its quiet beach. The beach in front of Los Cocos is very safe for children as there is almost no surf but it does not have a great area for serious swimmers when the tide is out. It is unsafe to swim out of the buoyed area because of the number of motor boats that keep whizzing in and out of that little southern cove of the bay. For the price, it's a great value. The drive from PV airport is interesting and not too long.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks over christmas and New years and we had a fabulous time. We stayed in Cocos 4 and even though it is a little far from the beach it is well worth it. The resort itself is a little dated, but we knew that going in so we were prepared since it is only a 3 star. The food was not too bad, but after the first week we started going to the local restaurants which are really quite good. We found it quite remote and far from Puerto Vallarta as it is quite expensive to get into town so we stayed close by Guayabitos. The beach is quite wonderful although the sun sets quite early, so there is no real sunset at this resort. If you are not looking for fancy and do not want to be by the action, this is a great place to stay. The staff is absolutely wonderful and make you feel very welcome.We would stay here again.

We have been to various locations in Mexico over the years and this was just as nice as any of them. The food was good, the staff was great and the people there were awesome.

It appears as though this resort caters to Canadians and Mexican families. We met several great families/couples and partied way too hard on most nights ;)

The rooms are not fancy, but for the price we paid, I can't imagine anything to complain about. We were rarely in our room other than to sleep anyways.

I would definitely recommend this resort.

This hotel is rated 2 1/2-3 star which is SO BELOW what it should be! My husband and I have been to a few other places in Mexico and this was by far our favorite trip!
We stayed in Guayabitos Jan 28-feb 5 2012, we were pleasently surprised by the awesome resort, awesome people and the comfortableness of this amazing property!
We stayed in Cocos 4( there are 5 total buildings) #4 was the quietest building as is is up a small hill from the beach and 2 of the 3 resturants. It was also the home of the adults only pool which stays ADULTS ONLY!!!
The food was good, they have a big barbeque night saturdays and OH MY GOODNESS!!! SO DELICIOUS!!!
Every evening there is a little market in the hotel, if you want good deals on jewelery and stuff like that go talk to a young vendor named Luis, while we were there he was directly beside the iguana bar, his dad also has a table, they are VERY FAIR and good honest men!!!! They are not pushy as some vendors can get to be, but are very hardworking!
The resort grounds were always spotless!!! as was the whole town!!! The staff there is ALWAYS working hard and maintaining, painting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning whatever, you never see people just sitting around.
My only recommendations I would have if you choose to go here is if you have trouble with mobility and stairs stay in cocos 1, it's the only building with an elevator. and the higher up you get in the buildings the lower the water pressure.
