My boyfriend and I spent a beautiful, warm sunny week at Casa Obelisco in February 2011 - and it exceeded all our expectations.
Every morning we munched on fresh fruit and were treated to delicious hot breakfasts prepared by Casa O's four gracious hosts while overlooking the ocean, and occasionally spotting a whale in the distance passing by. Afternoons were either spent exploring the jungle trail, long stretch of pristine beach (literally steps away from Casa O), the town of San Pancho and nearby Sayulita, or simply lounging by the beautiful heated in-ground pool, sipping a margarita and tasting Evie's delicious quesadillas.
Our rooms were immaculate, bright, spacious and comfortable. We'd fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves hitting the shore every day and night. The breakfast/lounge area upstairs overlooking the ocean was ideal for having a leisurely breakfast, or just relaxing and chatting with other guests/or hosts.
Day trips are easy if you have a vehicle. If you want to check out Sayulita (a nearby surf town), or head into Nuevo or Puerto Vallarta, I recommend you rent a car right by the Puerto Vallarta airport - we had a good experience with Dollar Rent A Car. We went on a full day whale watching/snorkelling trip from Nuevo Vallarta to the Marietas Islands. It was extremely easy to find and about a 45 minute car ride from Casa O. (Another recommendation: wait until summer to take this trip! Brr!)
San Pancho is a wonderful town, with plenty of delicious restaurants and beachfront bars. The people are friendly, and the weather is beautiful, dry and warm (even in February!). Casa O was the icing on the cake - this was one of our most memorable vacations to date, and beats an all inclusive resort by a landslide. I would recommend it to anyone.
Thanks Casa O for the opportunity to visit! We will definitely be back!
