“Everything you expect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

I am a regular visitor to the Knighton and return for the simple reason they get everything right 99% of the time and when they don't it is almost a joy to mention it as the response is overwhlemng and immediate. Be selective on the room (Ask for a bay window) and you will not be disappointed, with a clean crisp environment that would not be out of place in a 4 star establishment . Jacuzzi baths or a full wet room is an added bonus as is the free guest internet. (Albeit a little sporadic at times...oh BT when will you get it right!)' . The biggest reason I continue to return even though we have company accounts at more than one local hotel is the people. They make your stay a joy from the moment you arrive to the minute you leave and will fall over themselves to make sure you are happy. Sash windows on the front rooms albeit a requirement of the listed building status can prove a little noisy but nothing that would keep you from your sleep.Ticks all the boxes...consistently. You will not be disappointed for the price you pay. Fantastic value for money.

Room Tip: Room 23. Great room with bay window on the top floor. Great size. But don't book it on a Monday...

“A modern hotel, good for business and pleasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

The hotel has been completely refurnished and the standard of the rooms and decor is superb. The hotel is located in the small town of Knighton, right on the border between England and Wales and with easy access to Offas Dyke.

I stayed on a business trip and the food was excellent and even better was the free Wi/Fi throughout the building.

Unless you are worried about noise from the high street, ask for a room at the front of the building, these are big double rooms and even have the luxury of a Jacuzzi in the room.

Overall, an excellent experience, good food (thanks Debs) , very nice room and very pleasant staff, and especially Rowena, she was exceptionally helpful.

Room Tip: If size matters, ask for a room at the front. For peace and quiet, ask for a room at the rear.

“Carnival noise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

We stayed in the Knighton Hotel at the end of August 2011. The room was very nice and the service was good, however, one word of warning-do not stay here on the last Saturday of August as the local carnival is on and the town is very noisy at night. The hotel hosted a disco which went on until 1a.m. and it was impossible to sleep as the racket was awful and there were people in the street outside the hotel, drinking and shouting well into the night. This was not in keeping with the countryside setting considering the hotel has been renovated to a good standard and does not look like the kind of place that would encourage loud entertainment and thump thump noise.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that front onto the street as there is noise from the bar.

“Good Friendly Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

A very pleasant hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are generous in size and well appointed, if somewhat lacking in colour. The breakfast (not included in price) was large and excellent (we stuck to the continental rather than full 'Welsh Breakfast". Especially good was the 'eat early' dinner offered which was excellent value and high quality. The only slight problem was
parking - there are some dedicated car parks but the main carpark at the rear is a pay one.

The hotel is ideally suited for those wanting to walk on Offa's Dyke - lovely walks in the area around

“High standard in traditional setting - great for family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

We had a lovely family room for 6 nights. It was very clean and well equipped, with plenty of space and nice views. Bath even had a spa! Hotel had all the facilities you would need, and has been wonderfully renovated - modern well appointed interior but traditional features and building. Staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to help us and offer assistance. Nice bars and lounges. Good restaurant - though they could be slightly more adventurous in the menu (though worked well for the boys!). Free wifi was a good plus. All in all a beautiful hotel in a lovely location with everything you'd want - we extended our stay by 2 days!

Room Tip: Check their website - they often have discounts. Good value is a breakfast included rate.
