this hotel is located right in the center of st. davids and is a ideal location for visiting the fantastic cathederal and surrounding areas, fantastic beaches.a truly magical place.
the hotel is somewhat in a time capsul from the past in decor and in many ways needs updating, but with saying this it is a very warm and friendly and professional ran hotel, rooms are somewhat old fashioned and undoubtably need modernising but please do not loose the magical feel this place has. the beds are very comfotable and the bathroom very good, we had a room over looking the old square lovely and quiet. all meals are served in the dining room, but bar meals are offered in the bar lounge. We took all our meals over our 3 day stay in the restaurant, which was quiet and to be truthful we were not expecting much foodwise, in respect of the menu, we selected a leak and potato soup as a starter followed by a filet of plaice which was to be pan grilled with brown butter and capers, with a very good selction of veg and a lemon cheesecake dessert, what we got was a meal of culinary perfection both in taste and presentation, I was so happy with the meal I asked to meet the chef Andy and compliment him on this meal and to ask if we could have the plaice again the following evening. the food on every evening was out of this world and the breakfasts were just the same, ask to try the porridge as well, just yummie! Mr owner make sure you hang on to this Chef ANDY his cooking and presentation is of michelin star quality.
We always love visiting St. Davids and staying at The Old Cross, The management and staff were as they always have been SUPERB, Thanks everyone for yet again a wonderful stay. Wilf Hodgson
