“A Fantastic Stay...Wonderful Hosts!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

We were very fortunate to have stayed two nights at the Alandale in late July, 2011. Gloria and Rob are wonderful hosts who made our stay a comfortable experience. Both are welcoming and willing to take the time to offer their knowledge of the area and to recommend adventures around St. Davids. The Alandale is so close to the town square and facilities, less than a 5 minute walk. Our first night, was in the double bedroom at the back of the building, facing the sweeping views of the countryside. The room is immaculately kept, tastefully decorated and the bed ever so comfy. Fortunately for us, since we were late in booking for our second night, a twin bedroom facing the street side was available. Again, the room was spacious and clean with little car noise so to make for an uninterrupted sleep. In the morning, Gloria and Rob cater to a wide variety of food choices: from traditional Welsh breakfasts to vegetarian options. Food is locally sourced and cooked to perfection. Gloria makes an exceptional mushroom gratin full of delicious herbs and delicately cooked.
We would highly recommend the Alandale. When you stay, you are in for a treat!!

Room Tip: Top floor, double room has sweeping countryside views.

“Friendly and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

This is a very central B&B, just off the main square in St Davids, but on a quiet road (as most of them are!). The bus stop is right outside, no need to take your car - local bus services are great. The hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming, Gloria is lovely and looks after everyone, Rob is friendly too and funny; both are helpful and homely. You will be well looked after in this B&B. The rooms are very clean and tidy, the B&B welcomes walkers and cyclists, Rob and Gloria can dry waterproofs for you etc if you get rained on along the coast path, they can also give local tips of places to walk. There is a lounge for guests and free use of computer to check e.mails if you must - though better to forget life back home and just enjoy this lovely peaceful place. Gloria makes lovely breakfasts, including various poached fruits cooked in cinnamon and Rob does the waiting on tables, they use local Welsh produce for their breakfasts. I can't reccommend this B&B enough. Also, we are a same-sex couple and have unfortunately experienced prejudice in the past, but no such experience here. The hosts are welcoming and friendly to all, I really didn't want to leave! By the way, the best place we found to eat in St Davids is 'The Bench' an ice cream bar and resteraunt, it is also the best place for vegetarians I think as the other places in St Davids are not great for veggies.

Room Tip: Room 1 has a view of the sea in the distance and french doors to let sea air in.

“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2011

We were at the Alandale as part of an organised holiday for wildlife watching so not sure what to expect. What a lovely surprise. Gloria and Rob were the perfect hosts - not intrusive but they did everything to make our stay there as enjoyable as possible. The breakfasts were delicious and the room comfortable but it was the welcome from Gloria and Rob that made our stay so special. Ideally located in the centre of St. David's, just round the corner from the cathedral and high street. If you're in that part of Wales, I'd definitely recommend it as a place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing West give great sunset views

“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

This B&B is located in the town of St. Davids. The owners, Rob and Gloria are wonderful hosts. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The traditional Welsh breakfast is perfect for starting out your day. We hope to return one day to this beautiful area, and we will stay here again, if they will have us.
