“Good value, but, could be better still”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Nice convenient hotel located opposite an outstanding Visitor Centre in St David's.
Easy parking and a friendly staff greeting gave good first impression.
Bedrooms are OK, but small and a bit "tired" and dirty hand marks on the toilet doors don't help give an impression of thorough cleanliness elsewhere!!
There is a real noise problem with a kitchen extractor unit and definitely ask before booking if the room you are being given is either 6 or 7 as this can be really annoying and although it goes off at around 10.30ish until about 8.00 a.m. it does interfere with your enjoyment of the room.
Food excellent and again staff very friendly and a nice conservatory where food is served.

Just needs to be a bit smarter and then sort the extractor out

Room Tip: Do not ask for 6 or 7

“Excellant value, lovely rooms , friendly staff”

Having spent our first night in St Davids in an expensive soul less hotel, we looked around for something more appealing. We had stopped in at the Grove for a quick meal and realised they did rooms. For £60 we got a suite - which wasnt really , just a larger room with a sofa, with on suite facilities, plus breakfast , which we thought excellant value. It was a lovely , well decorated room and - contary to previous reviews , the shower worked ! Its at the south end of St Davids opposite the tourist infomation centre and is on a main road with a big car park . Could hear traffic but not unduly intrusive. Is a Brains brewery chain restaurant and serves typical food. However breakfast was excellant. Staff very helpful and friendly too. Would recommend it as a base to stay in the area - only a short walk to the coast and an easy walk to the town centre.

Room Tip: Go for the ' Suite' !

“Little Gem in a little city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

An excellent find in Britain's smallest City.

Room large and comfortable with free Wi-FI and parking an added bonus.

Nice large light and airy conservatory restaurant serving good quality bar food. There is a restaurant also but this was closed for the winter season, but will definately try it out if I return in the high season and this is just the place that I would be happy to visit again.

Staff friendly and efficient.

“charming stay - A Hamilton-Smith”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We stayed at The Grove for two nights while visiting friends who live locally and met them for dinner at the hotel. We ate by the cosy fire place in the conservatory; the food and wine were both excellent and beautifully presented, the service was flawless. Our room was big and airy with a lovely view of the gardens; tea and coffee were provided; the king size bed was very comfortable and was beautifully made with fresh white linen and fluffy pillows. The en-suite bathroom was large and had fresh white towels, perfect for either a soothing bath or a power shower after a long coastal walk. Breakfast was wonderful, continental and full English - it had been a while since we’d eaten kippers which were cooked to perfection. The Grove is conveniently located in the heart of St David’s, perfect for a moonlit stroll through the city or a long walk or run along the sea front. The walled garden is pure magic. We had a lovely couple of days at The Grove and look forward to returning very soon.

“Very accommodating for late-arriving ferry passengers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Arrived off the late ferry into Fishguard, at about 1am, landlady was there to meet us and show us to our room - no problem with it being so late. Nice comfortable room, bit on the small side, but ideal for a 1-night stay. Tea/coffee facilities provided. Had breakfast in the restaurant, lovely bright glass conservatory-type room, nice relaxed breakfast. Recommend especially for ferry passengers as the staff understand you will be arriving after 1am.
