“One of the nicest meals out.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

As locals we didnt stay at this hotel, we only went there for a meal after hearing many good things about the food.
The meal we had was delicious, all three course were delightful and the gentleman we had serving us was absolutely fantastic, very polite, nothing would of been too much trouble for him.
I would certainly recommend dining out in their restaurant.

“Character building with many many steps!”

Rooms: The room was clean and furnished with all the standard items. Although dated in places (furniture, hair dryer), the room had recently received a flat-panel TV with Freeview channels (colleagues room did not have flat-panel TV). The bathroom was almost of equal size to the bedroom!

Cleaning: During my stay, the room was cleaned daily with beds re-made. The drinks making facilities were not spotlessly cleaned and the kettle could have done with a wipe. The rest of the hotel appeared clean although my dust allergy was triggered during my stay.

Facilities: The hotel has wi-fi throughout and there was a good signal and speed in the room. The dining area for breakfast is very well presented. Dinner was served in the bar area which was also well laid out and stocked.

Food: The breakfast was very good. Waiter service and was offered all standard breakfast items, including tea (tea pot) and coffee. There was a good selection of items including cereal and yoghurt.

Staff: All very friendly and helpful, staffed throughout the day and someone always on hand to answer questions and queries.

“Depressing / unsatisfactory”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2010

Stayed at this hotel for business - day one waited to be served at reception for 10 mins whilst the receptionist served behind the bar. Room was like a depressing bed sit - two single beds very uncomfortable - carpet in bathroom - shower with very little power and either red hot or freezing (choice was yours). TV very quirky you get sky sports then have to turn off and on again to get BBC etc. Kettle old and the most basic range of tea/coffee posible.

Very surly reception guy on day two - who kep me waiting for my key whilst he had a telephone conversation regarding Xmas menu's charming.. expensive for poor hotel..

“Very dated - not recommended”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

Stayed here with friends for a wedding. Was very expensive for the poor quality (£80 for double room). Carpet in the bathroom, and no shower (just bath). Funny drain smell in the bathroom all the time. Our room opened on to the hallway so we could hear the fire door opening and closing all night. The staff seemed friendly enough but it's not worth staying just for that! Generally the room looked like it was straight from the 70s/80s and the whole hotel needed an overhaul. I'm afraid I wouldn't stay here unless you're really desperate.
