“Loved it, perfect place to stay, will definitely be back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

Couldn't find any fault with Awelfan. Karen was the perfect host, friendly, very helpful with knowledge of local area and recommendations for walks, places to eat, etc. House was spotless, room was big and airy with spacious bathroom and beautiful views. My husband swam every day and had no problem with availability of pool. We had more than ample breakfasts every day and my husband would eat a horse so that's saying a lot for Karen's cooking! Her Welsh cakes have made me a fan for life.

“Great B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2010

Excellent rooms and location, spacious and comfortable. My only minor niggle would be the unnecessarily stingy and rigid attitude towards breakfast choices - for example if you want oats porridge or cereal, than you cannot have any fruit or yoghurt, etc. Seems silly and such a pity.

I am sorry you felt this way, there are 5 sections to the breakfast menu, the section you referred to shows a choice of cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit salad or porridge. There is a bowl of fruit also with the cereals ( which are self service) , guests can add to their choice. I serve greek yoghurt with the fruit salad anyway . I sincerely think that the breakfast menu is more than adequate and my guest comments are full of praise for the breakfasts which include local home cured award winning bacon and sausages, home made bread and organic and local produce where possible. I have responded personally to ask how you think I could change things. I was surprised to hear your description and unaware of any guests feeling that way, perhaps there was a misunderstanding ?

“Fantastic Family room, clean & spacious with a very helpful host”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

The Family Room accommodated us as a couple with a 3 year old daughter and 9 year old son (in a travel cot provided) with ample space for toys and crawling.... Unfortunately we did not get to use the pool as to busy with other things going on in the day, but it is worth checking about pool availability as cannot be used when Yoga classes are running.

Breakfast was lovely although ask about breakfast options for kids as this is priced slightly differently.

Karen was a great host and very accommodating and flexible around our needs and her fridge/freezer space.

In response to review,
The pool is available from 8am til 9pm generally, it can be available at other times by arrangement. During term times monday evenings, wednesdays and thursdays it becomes a Yoga room so pool can be used if arranged between classes. Please check availability to come to a Yoga class or arrange a one to one or a therapy.
Re. Breakfasts for children.... under 2's are free, under 10's breakfast includes, orange juice, cereal, porridge, yoghurt or fruit salad and toast. Cooked breakfasts can be arranged for children under 10 if required.
please note the child I provided the travel cot for was 9 months not 9years ! :)

“Very Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2010

Karen is a very welcoming host and you get the impression that she really cares about guests having a good stay. Large double room (and huge bathroom!) was spotless and well cared for. Was nice to have such a large choice of well prepared breakfast dishes in the conservatory. Awelfan is well placed for sightseeing/walking around St Davids headlands and Karen put us right for an excellent evening meal (The Sloop Inn at Porthgain 5 mins away) and places to see along the nearby coast path. Highly recommend this B&B.

“Excellent - Recommended without hesitation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

Simply perfect. We had a very clean bedroom with a spacious and clean bathroom. A great choice of breakfasts - all of which were excellent. Karen, the owner, is very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome from start to finish. Two added bonuses were the indoor swimming pool and the possibility of joining Karen's yoga class!
