“LOVELY ROOMS GOOD BREAKFAST”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Went to Wales for first time with my sister to see where we were born we did get lost because of a closed road and diversion but got there in the end. Daniel the son was very helpful and courteous moved our rooms to be near to each other the rooms were lovely and we loved having a kingsize bed to ourselves very clean. The breakfast was excellent local produce used. The only downside was a slightly prickly attitude from the owner. Very handy for all sightseeing.

“nice place pity about the .........”

This is a 'classy' motel with comfortable clean rooms and lots of little extras which are in the main unnecessary. There is also a bistro/cafe/restaurant which is ok but not included in the hotel except for breakfast. The reason I have marked this down is because we had no hot water and no heating. We mentioned this to the lady (who I believe is the owner),on our way into breakfast and she said she would investigate. She duly returned and said the radiator needed bleeding and one of the boilers was on the 'blink'. We requested a discount and at this point she exploded and told us to pack up and leave. It was unbelievable and I still cannot fathom what caused her to behave like that. We certainly were not rude and were well within our rights to ask for a discount. The waiter came and apologised so it would seem that this type of irrational behaviour is fairly common.

“Great 4 Days”

We really enjoyed the stay, very freindly people, lovely room, and fabulous breakfast (lots of choice). Great location for cycling route 8. Offered to pick us up if we got stuck. Would highly recommend.

“No steep hills required!”

We stayed in the Estuary Lodge last year (Summer 2010), and we absolutely loved it. The room was lovely, parking was very good, the welcome was very friendly and the cooked breakfasts were fabulous, and relatively healthy (all cooked on a hotplate, with eggs as fresh as they can be - chickens on site!).

For an evening meal, there was a fantastic pub a few yards down the road, and you can take a train to other nearby places such as Harlech (you have to wave it down because it is not an automatic stop station). We can recommend Harlech Tandoori for a very nice Indian meal.

The staff at the lodge were also incredibly helpful regarding travel locally around this part of Wales. We let them know where we were planning to go, and they recommended the best road route to take (there are many precarious and steep roads in Wales!).

The other great thing about this Lodge is that you do not have to go up an impossibly steep hill to get to the entrance to the guest house - it is all on the flat.

We would definitely be happy to visit there again.

“Exceeded Expectations”

We had a wonderful weekend at Estuary Lodge.
The room exceeded our expectations. It was immaculately clean, the bed comfortable and there was great attention to detail - they had thought of everything, including water and fresh milk in the fridge and wine glasses!
Daniel is an excellent chef and was very accommodating when we arrived a bit late.
Grant was very friendly and is clearly a fantastic handyman. And Alison's Baileys cheesecake is about the best thing we've ever tasted!
Friendly and efficient service, good value for money and we'll definitely go back there if we are ever in the area again.
