“Simply THE BEST”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

What a fantastic B&B with the best hosts. From the moment that we arrived we knew this would be an experience to remember. Katrina escorted us to our rooms and then had a wonderful afternoon tea awaiting us in the relaxing lounge room. We had also arranged for dinner at Bryniau Golau that evening . Sitting in the dining room with our friends ,we were extremely relaxed in this beautiful setting overlooking the lake. Next we met Peter who had prepared our delicious evening meal.
Our rooms were just so comfortable and the beds divine. The setting here is FANTASTIC.
We stayed 3 nights and explored most that Snowdonia has to offer.
Being quite well travelled , this is one B&B that we would hope to come back to next time we are in the UK.
Thank you Katrina & Peter for sharing your wonderful home with us. We have already recommended Bryniau Golau to family and friends.

“Worth every penny...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

My wife and I stayed at Bryniau Golau B&B for three nights at the end of July/beginning of August, whilst on a motorcycle touring holiday of Wales and were really pleased that we did.

Describing it as merely a B&B does not do justice to Bryniau Golau and if you were merely selecting on price would probably pass it by without further ado. If however you are looking for a couple of days in a fantastic setting with five star accommodation hosted by two really great people then you couldn't do much better than here.

Bryniau Golau is on the south of Lake Bala near Llangower but it's only 1.5 miles into Bala which is walkable for a lot of people - and a lot of walkers do stay here. Obviously if you are disabled or unable to use your own transport then this would be a problem. Taxis are reasonably priced however and one Bala restaurant runs a free service if you dine with them.

Back to Bryniau Golau, when we arrived, Katrina and Peter gave us a fantastic welcome with a clotted cream tea which was delivered up to our room, more of which later. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and they even dropped us into town on our first night. Peter also owns a motorcycle and kindly allowed us to share his garage for the duration of our stay. Car parking is "on road" outside Bryniau Golau but as it's pretty secluded, this shouldn't be a problem.

The "room" we stayed in was actually an amazing suite affording beautiful views over the lake and gardens with a four-poster bed, large en-suite with jacuzi and seperate shower, double sinks/mirrors - I've posted some pics (sorry about the quality). Everything was beautiful but initially we were a little intimidated by the white bedroom carpet as we arrived wet and soggy from a fairly typical Welsh downpour. However, far from being concerned about us walking all over their beautiful house in wet, grubby bike gear, Katrina led us on a short introductory tour through the house and never blinked an eyelid.

The breakfasts were fantastic - all the food was obviously of the highest quality local produce (and plenty of it) - and we were both barely able to get our bike kit back on when it was time to leave.

Bryniau Golau was a great holiday experience and rather than say that it was expensive we'd call it value for money!

“absolutely perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2010

Everything about this B&B is perfect ,we got a warm bubbly welcome from Katrina who gave us fresh cream scones and coffee on arrival. The Berwyn room is stunning both in quality, views of the lake and the perfection of the bathroom. This really is 5 star luxury, comfort was second to none, total peace and quiet.........absolutely perfect.

“Everything else pales in comparison”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

After staying at Bryniau Golau I think I am never going to be satisfied with another B&B. This place is exceptional and absolutely great value for money. When it states 5 star it MEANS 5 star, Everything is perfect. The house itself is gorgeous and decorated beautifully and stylishly. The bedrooms are large and sitting in the bath overlooking the lake as the sun sets it truly special. Others have spoken about Katrina and Peter's hospitality and charm and I can only concur. Nothing is too much trouble. If you get a chance to eat in, do so. It is lovely food, friendly and relaxed. And if you want to eat in town, Katrina drives you in so that the restaurant can drive you home. What service.
I am writing this in another supposedly 5 star B&B and as I said before it pales in comparison.

“Bliss, sheer bliss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2010

On arrival we were greeted by Peter and later to Katrina who helped us in with our luggage and offered some refreshments. In our room, we were bought up some home made scones with cream and jam together with coffee they were just out of the oven and delicious. We had a good choice of what to eat at breakfast and this could take you through to the evening.

Our room was large but l believe not the largest, it had a queen size bed with a lovely soft quilt and pillows, that bed was just heaven for the three nights we were there. The bathroom was a good size and had one of those large free standing baths. It was smashing, simply lying in that bath and looking at Lake Bala below.

The location of the guest house is just right not too far from civalisation but far enough to be quiet and tranquil. The house has a lovely garden and to sit outside and enjoy the sun set.

The hospitality a stranger receives l believe is very important and Peter and Katrina displayed this very well. The house was clean and welcoming and the food lovely. To say anything anti would be a crime but all i think of are two things. Parking could be a bit tight if there was a house full and on the road. But, as their house is the only one on the road not a big problem. The second drawback is the Welsh weather.
