“Awful food in the Chequers Restaurant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Party of 7 - went there today for sunday dinner. The starters were just terrible - I'm half expecting to be ill later on from the pate. Main courses were also really bad - I'm not quite sure how they managed to get the turkey to have a texture like old rubber, but sure enough thats what they served up, together on a plate with the worst stuffing (which i think was just microwaved fat, leftovers and seasoning). Barely enough vegetables to go around.
Pudding was the banoffee crumble with chantilly cream. there was not enough cream on the plate to even get it up with a spoon!! - it was more of an idle dressing than an ingredient!
I dont know what the rest of the hotel is like, but we wont be going there again to find out.

We were sorry to see this review, and that this party did not enjoy their meal in Chequers Restaurant. The guests were looked after by Steve our Restaurant Manager, who was very surprised to see the feedback, as he assures me there was ample opportunity both during and after the meal to make these comments known.
Steve and all the 'team' here are keen to ensure all our guests are well looked after, and in the event of any dissatisfaction will do all they can to resolve whilst the guests are here - as after the event it is very difficult to resolve.
We will carry out a thorough investigation into all the comments, and would welcome the opportunity to discuss further with the guests concerned.

“Weekend at Northop Hall Hotel”

We wanted to treat ourselves for our 10th Anniversary and made an inquiry with Northop Hall Hotel. They offered us a fantastic deal, so we booked. First impressions were great, the hotel was warm and welcoming as were the staff. The weekend just got better and better, afternoon drinks by a roaring fire on a very cold day! followed by a rest on an extremely lovely bed, a superb 3 course dinner and relaxing coffee in the lounge bar. Delicious breakfast in bed late on Sunday morning after a superb nights sleep, all toped off by a very reasonable bar bill. Hoping to be celebrating our 11th Anniversary at Northop Hall Hotel.

“Perfect Wedding Venue”

Me and my wife were married on October 21st 2011 and had the time of our lives. Great venue and the staff couldn't of helped us more. They made the day so much less stressfull than it could have been and standards were still kept very high. Many of our family and friends have commented on how helpful Dot and her team were which is testament to the hotel.

Thanks again,
Chris & Joanne

“Top notch wedding venue & Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

My wife and I got married at Northop Hall Country Hotel on Saturday 18th June 2011. This venue was at the top of our list due to being local for us ,family and friends and having stunning garden views for wedding pictures and top reccomendations. The weather was beautiful on the day and did not disappoint us, I knew it was going to be fantastic driving up the long scenic drive!

Firstly, our wedding planner Dot Wallace was awesome and couldn't do enough for us throughout the build up and was always prompt for meetings. During the day, the ceremony and reception was thoroughly organized by the master of ceremonies and timing was impeccable.

Food

We had tried the food out at this venue at the chequers restaurant before the day, so we knew the food was not going to disappoint us. I can honestly say the food at the reception, evening hot buffet and breakfast was beautiful and always served piping hot. The feedback we received back from our guests on the food was incredible... looking forward to going back to have that full English again! The waiter at breakfast, was very funny indeed and had our guests in stitches of laugher. One of our friends ordered a full English with some exclusions, so the waiter thought to make a joke of it by fetching his plate out with just a baked bean on it.. classic! Summed the venue and culture of the place up for me.

The bridal suite was made up really nice and had stunning views over the gardens and was very comfortable indeed, we had some nice comments from our guests too. great 1st day to wake up as newly weds.

Would like to give a special thank you to the resident DJ in the evening, he had nearly every single person up on the dance floor, cracking sign everyone was enjoying themselves.

Would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married or have a couple of day break, you wont regret. Reasonably priced too.

Once again , would like to thank all of the staff for making our wedding day so special and one we will never forget. Words cant describe how smoothly the day ran.

“Fantastic Hotel”

We have stayed at the hotel on a number of occasions in the last four years, most recently in December 2011, and have really enjoyed every visit. The atmosphere in the hotel is relaxed and welcoming and the staff are very friendly and professional. The hotel décor is lovely and it is set in beautiful grounds. We have always found the breakfast provided to be of a high standard and the food served in chequers restaurant is delicious.

The hotel made a lasting impression on us from our very first visit and we chose it as the venue for our wedding last year – we didn’t even consider any other locations. The Hotel Events Co-ordinator, Dot Wallace, is fantastic; nothing was too much trouble in the organisation of our big day. Our Wedding day itself was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The hotel staff co-ordinated the day brilliantly, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Every single member of staff was excellent and all of our guests commented on what a wonderful time they had. We certainly had the best day of our lives, in a very special place.
