“friendly caring staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

My father stayed this weekend, he is 80, the staff here have been superb, have looked after him so well, taking breakfast to his room. Unfortunately dad took ill, they phoned me and dad was admitted to the local hospital. The owners have continued with their friendly caring nature enquiring after my dad, even though he left there. What lovely people, genuine, considerate and so thoughtful....thank you so much for taking such great care of my dad.

“Very poor, does not live up to website”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2010

Reality was very disappointing, not at all what we expected from the website. Tiny, dirty rooms- carpets soiled despite numerous warnings that if guests soil carpets they'd be charged for the cleaning!! Distinctly unwelcoming signs; no takeaways/ soiling room (surely obvious); no tv remote without a deposit (not something you're going to bother with once you've got into bed and just want something to drown out the awful karaoke downstairs and next bedrooms antics through the paperthin walls), and if your hotel is attracting the kind of people who need these measures it should be a sign you're doing something wrong!
Ensuite was grim, didn't have a lock, but much worse the door wouldn't actually stay closed! Towels were threadbare, and filmy with cheap washing powder. No toiletries except cheap handsoap.
Altogether pretty horrible, the only reason we actually stayed was the sheets looked clean and we were exhausted from travelling.
The breakfast was passable, but definitely not a full english.
Staff friendly, just a shame they have no pride in the product they sell.

“Avoid at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2009

Dingy room which smelt of smoke, uncomfortable beds, no toiletries in the bathroom (which one expects in a 'hotel'), very noisy - noise from the bar kept us awake until after 11pm, and the walls are made of paper - we could hear people snoring in the next room. Not the best night's sleep in the world. As for breakfast - one milk jug between 3 tables, and breakfast order was incorrect even though a form was filled in the night before.

“Very pleasant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2009

Have just spent 3 nights at this hotel, and it was a pleasant experience. Firstly there is more than ample off road parking. Checking in was a breeze, Ok you have to order your breakfast for the next day, which I thought was a little odd, but as it was a business trip and I had a very early start was more than happy to do this. Because at breakfast I had a perfectly adequate. well cooked breakfast served to me practically as I sat down. Loads of toast and coffee too. And the offer of more. The bedroom was very spacious, and clean, lots of electric plugs and a very suitable workplace to use the laptop, no need to balance on knee or bed. Internet connection is free and very speedy. The bathroom was also very good, plenty of room for toiletries, plenty of hot water, an electric shower and clean white towels very day. There is no restaurant but that's no problem as the hotel is within easy walking distance from several.
But the staff were brilliant! Very pleasant and helpful, and happily going the extra mile for me, Also good knowledge of the restaurants, and the locals were helpful too!! And all this for just £50 a night. The hotel is a real find, I would happily stay again.

“Uncomfortable bed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2008

I stayed here with my husband for one night as we were in Prestatyn for a family birthday celebration. The hotel itself was a little old fashioned and needed updating. It was clean enough although quite a few cobwebs in bathroom.
We returned from the family party just after 11pm and it was very quiet although our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking a busy road. I'm so glad we'd had a couple of drinks because the bed was unbelievably uncomfortable with springs digging in me from all angles - we'd have had a better night's sleep on a sack of potatoes! I was a bit stiff the following morning but as the day went on my back got worse and by the time I'd arrived back in South Wales I could hardly walk.
We'd planned on having a long lie-in and so booked our breakfast for 9.15am. However, we were ready to go by 8am so sat and watched the Olympics on tv while we waited for our breakfast. Not a large breakfast but very nicely cooked so enjoyed it.
My recommendation is, if you want a bad back then go ahead and stay here, otherwise avoid it!

  • Liked — Nicely cooked breakfast
