This was a spur of the moment trip, during a visit to UK. It could not have been better! A warm welcome, comfortable room, large and luxurious bathroom, delicious dinner and scrumptious breakfast. What more could you ask for?

We stayed at Castle Cottage in Harlech on January 3rd 2012. We were warmly welcomed by the owners, Glyn & Jacqui and they showed us to our beautiful room above the restaurant. We stayed in Room 3 called ‘Caernarvon’. Each room is named after a Welsh Castle. Our room was fantastically comfortable and had great facilities including a huge bathroom with a massive bath and separate shower. The bedroom was separate from a small lounge with a television. You could tell the owners had put a lot of thought in meeting their guests every need. There were plenty of plug sockets and a good mirror and light on the dressing table. We also had tea and coffee facilities, bottled water and a basket of fresh fruit! It was great to lie in bed & see Harlech Castle and the sea in the distance. The main reason we wanted to stay here was because we had heard so many recommendations for Glyn’s excellent cooking. We were not disappointed. Later, we went down to dinner we were given some lovely canapés whilst we had a pre –dinner drinks and looked at the menu. It was really hard to choose as we liked the sound of everything! In the end my husband chose, Scallops with Black pudding & bacon & I had crispy Welsh lamb pancakes with hoisin sauce as starters. For main course my husband had Seafood Thermidor and I had suckling pig. The puddings were equally delicious and we also thoroughly enjoyed the Chef’s appetizer of Chicken Consommé and freshly cooked bread. Glyn’s wife Jacqui took great care of us and it was an amazing meal. The next morning we had a beautifully cooked Welsh breakfast with a table full of fresh fruits, muesli etc. to choose from. I can highly recommend Castle Cottage as a perfect base to stay if you are planning on touring North Wales or if you just want to spoil yourself.

We stay in Harlech alot as we have a holiday home at Min Y Don Holiday Park and have eaten at many places. We had heard that the Castle Cottage is the best restaurant in the town and we weren't disapointed. The extra surprise course of a delicious pea & ham soup was a bonus. The staff were welcoming and we even discussed bringing our well-behaved children which they can cater for. It's just off the main street so we can see why we overlooked it in the past. Definately will go again and we strongly recommend it . Thanks for a lovely evening
