“Average basic lodging”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Initial impression upon arriving is that someone is doing a very good job of remodeling. I was given a room that was designed for disabled individuals. This, in and of itself, is not bad. However, the shower head kept falling down and I could not take a shower without holding it in my hand. The closet is a lower poll for easy accessibility. The problem is is that my pants could not hang properly from the pole. I was not asked if I wanted this room nor was I told in advance that I was being given this room. The room did have a nice desk area and an area with the couch; however, the "living area" was blocked off from the television in the bedroom. The workout room was far below-average of what I've come to expect in hotels as I travel. This one had 2 treadmills, 2 elipticals, and a recumbent bike in a small room. I stayed at this hotel because the places I've normally stayed in Memphis were booked. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

“No Complaints Here”

I returned home from a 2 night stay at this hotel today and I wanted to make sure I left a review. I first want to say that I am an avid review reader and I do depend on the opinions of others to help me make my choice in hotels, restaurants, clothing, etc. Secondly, I am an active duty soldier in the Army and a hospitality and tourism major in college and this hotel made me even more excited to finish my degree and become part of the hospitality business when I am no longer a soldier.
Now on the hotel. Me and my boyfriend just wanted to take advantage of our four days off and get away from this military town so we decided to go to the civil rights museum in Memphis. The hotel looked great from the outside and was in a perfect location. Plenty of restaurants around it. A logans steak house, a ruth chris, chipotle, panera bread, olive garden, pf changs. also there was a target, and a bunch of other stores. it seemed as if it was in a nice business area so i felt very safe. Once we walked in the door there was a check-in kiosk to the right so i thought i would use it. it worked quick and easy. after getting everything in our room. someone called from the front desk and said they noticed we checked in an just wanted to make sure every thing was okay. it was that easy. the machin spit out the keys and everything.
the room was very spacious. we were in room 124 the first room the the right on the first floor. although it was next to the kitchen we rarely ever heard any noise, and if you like to utilize the gym the 24 hour gym is close right across the hall. back to the room. the was a large sectional couch in one area with a desk and lamp, the big flat screen tv the swivels, and the other side of the room was our nice king size bed and the bathroom area. THe only itty bitty proble i had was the room had a slight maybe old smell. but i think most hotels get that smell after a while, but it went away shortly after the air started running. i suggest just bringing like a plug-in or something. over all i just really loves our room.
the hotel has free wifi (GREAT) and continental breakfast every morning (EXTRA GREAT). The staff I think were awesome. My boyfriend was getting some water for some tea and it was running low so i said to him in a low voice "maybe you should tell the lady they are out" all he got out was "ma'am" and she said I heard you, let me get that for you. I thought that was such great service. The set up in the breakfast area was also very nice.
We drove to the beale street area both days we were there. at most I would say it is 20-25 minutes away depending on traffic. we just didn't want to stay right on beale. The hotel is not a luxury hotel, but it makes you feel at home. I am picky where I stay and i was quite comfortable every night. All in all, I think we made a great choice for the price we paid and we would definitely stay there again. Thank you for a great stay.

Room Tip: check in at kiosk at front door

“Nice hotel in a great area!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My husband and I stayed in a king room which was quite nice, although it was directly across from the elevator. Only a few times did we hear any noise even with a large youth group staying in the hotel. The staff could not have been any nicer and remembered our name when we went through the lobby later in our stay. They were very accommodating! The carpets and the sofa in our room could have been a bit cleaner, but the bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. The only negative was that our toilet overflowed about 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve. I called the front desk and they immediately sent maintenance to see what the problem was. Not only did the nice man fix the toilet, he cleaned up thoroughly and did so cheerfully! This hotel is in a nice area of the city with many restaurants and other hotels in the vicinity. This is our first time staying in a Hyatt Place, but we will certainly use them again!

“Nice Hotel in a Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

After taking a lot of time to look on Trip Advisor for a hotel in Memphis, my boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Hyatt on Primacy Parkway. We booked a 3 night stay during the week between Christmas and New Years and got a great price through Travelocity (with a rental car). Although most of our planned activities were in downtown Memphis, we were a little scared to stay in a hotel downtown, because of the high crime rates. We felt much safer staying in a suburb (this hotel is near the "Germantown" area). The hotel is very close to the highway, and it took about 20-30 minutes to get downtown.

When we arrived at the hotel a bit after 4:00, we immediately saw two kiosks near the front doors to check in. After scanning the credit card used to book the trip, we were given our room keys, no problem. This is the first hotel we had ever stayed at where we didn't have to talk to a real person to get our room keys. We were given room 101. We liked that our room was right next to an entrance/exit, so we didn't have far to walk to the parking lot from our car. We were impressed with the hotel itself, noting that it was either new or had been recently renovated. Our non-smoking king room was very nice, with a big flat screen t.v., a small fridge, and a couch. We appreciated the free wi-fi, as we always take our laptop on vacations.

Although I knew that the hotel's kitchen made hot meals, I did not know until our first morning that hot food (like eggs or meat) was not free; only hot oatmeal, coffee, juice, cereal, fruit, and toast/bagels were free. We didn't pay for anything, but we did enjoy the free breakfast items. The last morning we were there, I went to get some food around 9:30, and was surprised to see that they were clearing everything away. I was lucky to snag some coffee before they took that.

Overall, we were happy with our stay at this hotel. It wasn't totally quiet; we could hear a baby crying in another room our first night, as well as people talking in the halls, but we slept well. Our only real problem was with the bath tub. It was obviously cracked at the bottom. You could not see it, but when you were standing in the tub taking a shower, the bottom of the tub was really uneven. But, there was plenty of hot water, and that was the most important thing. Also, the only ice machines in the building are on the third and fifth floors. But, you just have to take a short elevator ride up. I found it odd that there wasn't a machine on the first floor.

I doubt we will ever go to Memphis again (it was a pre-planned, special visit), but if we ever do, we would stay at this hotel again.
