“Nice hotel in a great area!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My husband and I stayed in a king room which was quite nice, although it was directly across from the elevator. Only a few times did we hear any noise even with a large youth group staying in the hotel. The staff could not have been any nicer and remembered our name when we went through the lobby later in our stay. They were very accommodating! The carpets and the sofa in our room could have been a bit cleaner, but the bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. The only negative was that our toilet overflowed about 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve. I called the front desk and they immediately sent maintenance to see what the problem was. Not only did the nice man fix the toilet, he cleaned up thoroughly and did so cheerfully! This hotel is in a nice area of the city with many restaurants and other hotels in the vicinity. This is our first time staying in a Hyatt Place, but we will certainly use them again!

“Nice Hotel in a Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

After taking a lot of time to look on Trip Advisor for a hotel in Memphis, my boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Hyatt on Primacy Parkway. We booked a 3 night stay during the week between Christmas and New Years and got a great price through Travelocity (with a rental car). Although most of our planned activities were in downtown Memphis, we were a little scared to stay in a hotel downtown, because of the high crime rates. We felt much safer staying in a suburb (this hotel is near the "Germantown" area). The hotel is very close to the highway, and it took about 20-30 minutes to get downtown.

When we arrived at the hotel a bit after 4:00, we immediately saw two kiosks near the front doors to check in. After scanning the credit card used to book the trip, we were given our room keys, no problem. This is the first hotel we had ever stayed at where we didn't have to talk to a real person to get our room keys. We were given room 101. We liked that our room was right next to an entrance/exit, so we didn't have far to walk to the parking lot from our car. We were impressed with the hotel itself, noting that it was either new or had been recently renovated. Our non-smoking king room was very nice, with a big flat screen t.v., a small fridge, and a couch. We appreciated the free wi-fi, as we always take our laptop on vacations.

Although I knew that the hotel's kitchen made hot meals, I did not know until our first morning that hot food (like eggs or meat) was not free; only hot oatmeal, coffee, juice, cereal, fruit, and toast/bagels were free. We didn't pay for anything, but we did enjoy the free breakfast items. The last morning we were there, I went to get some food around 9:30, and was surprised to see that they were clearing everything away. I was lucky to snag some coffee before they took that.

Overall, we were happy with our stay at this hotel. It wasn't totally quiet; we could hear a baby crying in another room our first night, as well as people talking in the halls, but we slept well. Our only real problem was with the bath tub. It was obviously cracked at the bottom. You could not see it, but when you were standing in the tub taking a shower, the bottom of the tub was really uneven. But, there was plenty of hot water, and that was the most important thing. Also, the only ice machines in the building are on the third and fifth floors. But, you just have to take a short elevator ride up. I found it odd that there wasn't a machine on the first floor.

I doubt we will ever go to Memphis again (it was a pre-planned, special visit), but if we ever do, we would stay at this hotel again.

“People always have something to complain about”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

This hotel is very child friendly and one of the reasons I chose this establishment. Hotel was very clean and well appointed for anybody's needs. My family and I stayed in the two double bed room which worked quite well. In one area you have bathroom and bedroom and the other is sitting room or den. This worked perfectly because I had to work on some research while my son watched TV.

As for the local area you have quite a bit of restaurants to choose from for most any needs. Within walking distance is Five Guys, P.F. Chang's and other restaurants of your choosing. About a 10 minute drive away is the Germantown Commissary (see my review for extra information). And if you need to find basic need items Target is a 10 min walk over train tracks or 10 min drive (it's easier to walk but not for the faint of heart).

The free breakfast in the morning is basic but they have menu items a patron can easily order for your needs. As for other food on the menu I cannot review because I did not order any food items from their small cafe. However I did order a couple of coffee based drinks that were of Starbucks quality and price. With this being said this is the one part that brought the review down from 5 to 4 stars. The free breakfast was at times narrow in scope where only bread based items were the only thing on offer at that time. When passing later they had more items to choose from.

As I've read reviews of this hotel too many people have particular tastes and interests that only a 5 star hotel would be able to suffice. If you don't want to be around other people then stay at a secluded cabin in the hills. As for people making noise the hospital is across the street and if families are in dire need this is one of the hotels they stay at so of course they are going to be making noise that may or may not be enjoyable. I found the staff to be friendly, the hotel well designed for my needs as well as others. Give it a try I don't think you will be disappointed.

Room Tip: I stayed in the room closest to the lobby and I found little to no noise coming from the halls. I th...

“Web site photos are misleading”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

This place is way too noisy, old and left a bad taste in my mouth to ever stay at a Hyatt again. The pix on the web site make it look like a luxury hotel, but while the lobby is very nice, the rooms AREN'T! Very noisy, echoing hallway with people talking so loud at one point that I yelled at them to shut up. If you stay here, bring your earplugs and a loud fan/noise machine to drown out everyone passing by.

“Very Accomodating!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

The location was great. Near a lot of restaurants and shopping. It's also within the vicinity of Germantown, a very nice area.

The staff was great. We booked the room for a low price through a travel site and was stuck with a king bed when we really wanted a double. They moved us to a doubles room as soon as one was available without any hesitation or extra charge. The doubles room was much larger! Everyone was very friendly.

Breakfast could be better, but free is free so we can't complain.
