I reserved a room with trademill in the room and confirmation came back that there will be an equipment in the room. When I check in, the manager responded that the room is occupied and there is no room with trademill available. My reservation was not depending on the availability but guaranteed. The manager just said that it was too bad, and there was nothing he could do. His attitude and the starwood's customer services are very disappointing. I will never stay this hotel next time. This type of service never happened with Marriott nor Hilton.

“Good location, typically Westin”

We spent two nights here with our four year-old during the course of a long cross-country road trip. For our purposes, the location was quite good - within walking distance of Beale Street, the Peabody, and downtown restaurants, as well as an easy drive to other attractions like Graceland, Sun Studios, and the Zoo.

One unusual feature for a city hotel that we appreciated very much was the attached parking garage, which allowed us to self-park and move things easily between our car and room. Any family with kids knows how important this can be, so it was nice to have an alternative to valet parking. Contrary to some reviews, the front desk will validate your ticket with in and out privileges if you ask.

In terms of room quality, furnishings, and amenities, this property is pretty much a model Westin - sleek, contemporary, and without much character. But it does provide you with the ambience of stepping into a quiet oasis that is a key part of their brand, so I would rank it highly in terms of comfort and consistency. Service levels were fine but nothing out of the ordinary.

Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay, but it literally could have been any Westin hotel, anywhere in North America.

“Great location but housekeeping is lacking”

In October 2011 I took my mother to the So You Think You Can Dance Tour at the Fed Ex Forum. I booked 2 queen beds, non smoking room 2 months prior to our stay. Our check in with a young lady was great and did not take long. When we got in the elevator to go to our room I was surprised to see a filthy elevator. There was a large dust line around the perimeter of the elevator that looked as though it had not been vacuumed in a long time. When we got to our room we noticed that we had a handicap room. At first my mother was offended because she thought they gave us the room because she is 70 yrs old. She stated she did not want to stay in this room because she was not handicapped. I went back down to the front desk and spoke with a gentleman. I stated the problem and what type of room I booked. He stated the hotel was full and that I had booked a handicap room. He did not believe me when I told him I did NOT book a handicap room because we were not handicapped. He didn't care so we were stuck with the room. We could not even hang our garments on the clothes rack in the room because everything touched the floor. They were designed for someone in a wheelchair. Our room backed up to Beale Street but noise was not a problem. The beds were very comfortable but the room was dirty. There were several big ball of hair lying on the carpet so we knew it was not vacuumed after the previous guest and the bathroom floor had not been cleaned and everytime you went in your shoes would stick to the floor. We were there for the concert so tried to make the best of the room. Breakfast the next morning was really good and our server was very attentive. Valet parking was $24 a night/ very expensive but the valet gentlemen were great and very professional when helping you with your belongings. Our heat was even turned on high when we got into the car the next morning. Great touch since it was cold and rainy that day. I sent an e-mail regarding our stay to the Westin but did not get a response back. Guess they don't care just like the man at the front desk didn't care. Great location but would probably stay someone else during next visit.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for providing the feedback from your stay with us. I want to apologize for the inconveniences you went through at our hotel. Checking into a handicapped room when you were not expecting one was in no way attributed to your mother’s age, and we are greatly sorry for having offended her in any way. Sometimes, when booking an online reservation when the hotel is at capacity, the only option available is a handicap accessible room. I again apologize for any negativity with our staff members this may have caused, and it is regrettable our staff did not respond in an empathetic manner.

As for the cleanliness of your room and of our elevators, I will be addressing these issues immediately with the appropriate managers. Again, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at glyn.vandenberg@westinmemphis.com with any further details or concerns you may have. We look forward to creating a better experience for you and our future guests.

Sincerely,

“Great Staff”

This hotel was great. It is so close to Beale Street, Gibson Guitar and the Fedex Forum. Their staff is top notch. When my husband and I came down from our room, they called us by name and asked how our room was. We stayed in a suite and I fell in love with the Heavenly Shower. The room was so clean and we had a great view of the FedEx Forum. Their restaurant is top notch. They had the best lamb chops we ever ate. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to stay in downtown Memphis. I will definitely be back.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for the kind words about your stay and of our hotel! I’m so glad our staff was able to deliver the level of service that is expected of the Westin and other Starwood brands. We have recently undergone an extensive renovation of our restaurant’s décor, menu and staff, and we are glad to see that our efforts are paying off! I will pass the word along to our Chef Robbie Cirillo.

Thank you again for your review, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future!
