“Clean, comfy and accommodating”

Came down for the Liberty Bowl and stayed at the Residence. Nicest Residence Inn I've ever stayed at super clean, beds are good (we stayed in a loft suite) and the staff is great! They are happy to help, oh yeah continental breakfast here is very good! Highly recommend, good for business or pleasure, only 3 blocks or so from Beale.

Dear LibertyBowl Fan!

Thank you for choosing the Residence Inn by Marriott Memphis Downtown while you were in town for the LibetyBowl Game. Very happy to hear that our staff treated you well and you enjoyed our close location to Beale.

Best Regards

“Good Hotel, Great Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

While an older hotel, the rooms are nice and large. Being a Residence Inn, you have all the amenities as if you were staying very long. The breakfast and afternoon dinner is well done and very good.
The best thing about this hotel is the staff. The staff will always remember your name, make you feel like you own the place and will constantly work to make your stay memorable and comfortable.
Located downtown, it is convenient, although not as convenient as the properties near Beale Street. But location is not an issue when they treat you so well.

“Just ok”

Upon arriving at the Residence in, everything looked great. The lobby is nice and clean. When we got to the floor of our rooms, I was a little nervous. The walls under the windows in the hallway were falling apart. Walking into our room, everything seemed ok. Things looked clean. The toilet broke and the faucet fell off the sink upon use, but that was fixed when we went out for the day. The floor around our bed felt like it we were going to fall though it. It had holes and soft spots under the carpeting. When we pulled the sofa bed out to use (for the kids) I felt bad making them sleep there. The mattress was gross. I wanted to turn the mattress over, hoping it would be better on the other side, but it was worse. Soiled and dirty mattress! The bedding for the sofa bed was stored in the closet. Upon taking it out, we noticed that the bedding was filthy with stains. I wanted to leave the hotel, but at this point we would not find another hotel this late. We called for clean bedding and it was brought to us. The complementary breakfast was nice. I would absolutely love the hotel if I never pulled out the sofa sleeper.

“I'm Closer to New Orleans but Loved Memphis More!”

Girl trip with Best Friend to Memphis. This hotel had everything I love, comfy beds, really excellent staff, clean rooms/bathrooms and a great breakfast! We stayed in a one room + mini kitchen + sofa bed in August. From the minute we got to the residence we were treated as guests, not just customers. The staff were very courteous from the front desk to the greeter to the kitchen staff.

The only negative is that when the sofa bed is open, you can't walk around the room. Be prepared for that.

It's also right next to the trolley depot, a Walgreens and Paula & Raifords Discotech. Can't ask for more.

“Hotel...Great, City? not what it was.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

3 night stay in the Residence Inn was a highlight of a overall poor trip to Memphis.
The suites are well appointed, clean, quiet and spacious. The staff are great Carl, OC and Miss Ellie are first rate.
The breakfast is included and is a good choice of solid choices, nothing too fancy, but exactly what you need, however, you may have to queue behind the entire Memphis Police Dept who clearly know a good breakfast when they see one!!
Location wise, the hotel is ideal for downtown, but here is where the dilemma is....Downtown Memphis is a run down depressing ghost town...
We walked, we took the trolley, we did all downtown Memphis had to offer...and after 6 hours , rented a car, and left pretty quick!!
In summation, great hotel, in a sad, depressing city....
