IMPORTANT TIP: AVOID ROOMS THAT OVERLOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE POOL. THE HUMID AIR MAKES THESE ROOMS STINK AND GET MOLDY, E.G., RM. 218, 118.
When you step into the lobby, you are greeted by a very well decorated and overall appealing room. The lobby is a 5-story atrium that features scenic (glass) elevators. This hotel has a total of 8 floors. The top three floors are HHonors floors and when on the elevators, you will overlook the outdoor area in front of the hotel (mainly the parking lot).
When you get to your room, hopefully you will have a throw on the foot of the bed, not just a vellux blanket, and a duvet comforter between your sheets, and not a vellux blanket. And if you're lucky you may get a bed that doesn't collapse when you lie down on it. (Look up vellux blankets and you will know what I'm talking about if you don't already.) The reason I say this is because of my experience. I will go over that after I finish describing this hotel. The bathroom is rather nice, contains CITRON bathroom products. The towels are a bit old and had a couple of tiny holes, but nothing to complain about. The room comes with an iron, but the steam won't be of much use to you if your cap to your iron is missing. Also you may want to make sure you have both hotel phones in your room and make sure that you alarm clock is on the night stand.
The pool is great. It is definitely heated and the indoor pool is connected to the outdoor pool. You only have to swim under a wall to get outside. I was swimming yesterday in the outdoor pool. (end of December) I thought that was pretty cool. Vending prices were very reasonable only $1.50 for a 20oz bottle of soda. The fitness center looked nice. There were some headphones you could use with the treadmills with TV's on them. The hotel's breakfast costs $11.50 and is worth the money. They have all the juices you could ever want, great coffee, biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, croissants, muffins, and a few other items.
Now for my experience. I walked into the lobby, eating my AMAZING cookie, when I noticed the elevators. I thought this will be a nice hotel, the lobby looks astonishingly nice. Well I rode the elevator up to the second floor, stepped into room 218 and I was greeted with a HORRIFYNG odor. This was a very musty, moldy, and frankly very nasty smell. I have a theory as to why the room smelled this way. Look at the photo attached to the review and you will see what I am saying. The air conditioning unit gets its air directly from the pool area, which is very humid. This humidity causes water to get in the walls, in the carpets, and in the beds. Warm air can hold more moisture than cold air. When you fire up the a/c, the moisture in the warm air has to go somewhere when the room cools down, so it dews and gets all the sheets, chairs, and floor damp. The bed frame (which is just a wooden rectangle like a picture frame under the box springs) was already broken and loosely put together. When we sat down, the bed hopped down an inch or two when the bed collapsed.
We had to stay one of the four nights in the stinky room 218. Then the front desk moved us to 225 after complaining twice. I did not want to stay in room 218, but the front desk had a housekeeping lady spray the room, which only made it worse. The fact that the room change request had been brushed off negatively influenced my perspective on the service. Room 225 only had one phone (one on the desk and not one on the night stand) and this room did not have an alarm clock. On the older hotel phones we could not get the speakerphone to work proabably because these phones were not equipped with it. One more small thing that bothered me about this hotel was that the buttons labeled 'front desk', 'housekeeping', 'wake up calls' did not work and i had to dial 0 on the phone.
