“Grand Southern Hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012
1
person found this review helpful

The Peabody is a one off.
The grand lobby with fountains and bar is enough reason to stay.See my photo.
You are reminded constantly of being in another era of southern elegance.
I was surprised to read some of the negative comments here.
If you want a modern hotel with ultra modern fittings go elsewhere.
We were on a tour by hire car (Ford Mustang...got to be done) across from Atlanta to Memphis and Nashville taking in Elvis's homes in Tupelo and Gracelands.
The Peabody with its twice daily parade of the ducks is a bit twee for some but its only a bit of fun and the building is worth the trip.
As English people my wife and I were treated with great hospitality and I would reccomend the hotel to anyone.

“No doubt the best hotel in Memphis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We are a family of 4 ( 2 teenagers) and stayed for 5 nights in 2 adjoining rooms and loved the Peabody, ducks and all.
It has so much charm and sophistication.
The rooms were big and the beds so comfortable.
Concierge were ever so helpful.
The only negative was breakfast was included , buffet style, and was very basic with few choices.
You could order off the menu for an extra cost, but still did not thrill.

Beautiful rooms, clean and good quality. Their fitness center is very elegant, get your breakfast in the hotel, delicious. Second floor has a little bit of history to enjoy. Overall experience - really nice hotel with lots of amenities.

“elegance and grandeur”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The lobby of this hotel was spectacular, with a grand floral arrangement , exquisite wood grain furnishings and glorious paino serenading you as you enjoy a drink at the bar, have tea and desserts in the lobby bistro or are just walking through the lobby. The hotel is grand and expansive with multiple stores where one can browse or buy a multitude of souvenirs, clothing or antiques. One can even shop where Elvis shopped.
The location was ideal , close to Beale street, the river bank , and FedEx forum, the home of the Memphis Grizzlies.
The room was large and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful. I loved the in-hotel coffee bar with the most incredible desserts.
My only complaint is that due to the expansive size of this property, the signage should be more plentiful. It is easy to get turned around trying to find the skywalk to the parking deck, or trying to find the health club
I never got to see the infamous duck walk, as we were enjoying the city attractions at the times when they are in the lobby. so plan to be around at 11 am and 5 pm

Room Tip: Get a club level room or a corner room

“Once was enough....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Yes, the lobby of this hotel is grand and the ducks are fun to watch. The location can't be beat either and it was quiet enough that we got a good nights sleep. The front desk was not particularly friendly and kind of rushed us through check-in. But the main thing that tarnished my stay was that I left a pair of earrings on the bathroom counter. Though not valuable they were a favorite pair. When I emailed the hotel about my forgetfulness, I received a prompt response, but unfortunately the earrings were not found or at least they weren't turned in.
