“Stayed here on a drive from NYC to Dallas. Great water view. Super friendly”

Stayed here on a drive from NYC to Dallas. Really glad we stopped and stayed in Memphis - got to eat at Central BBQ not too far away. Just a short distance from the Lorraine Motel, now an evolving civil rights museum. You could get to Graceland easily but we didn't this time. Comfort Inn has a great waterfront view, very comfortable beds and friendly service. The friendliness in the town overall feels like the real thing. Much less expensive than many other hotels in town, but with equal quality and service (Comfort = $100 vs. others $200-300, and that's in the slow time of January!) For the money, we would have had to stay outside town if we hadn't found this one! Glad we found it.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view - you won't be disappointed.

“Good location for City Centre.”

This wasn't our first choice for a hotel in Memphis, but we booked our trip on the weekend of the St. Jude's Marathon, and got locked out of most other places on the Saturday. But it was perfectly acceptable, and fine.

Breakfast was a bit iffy. Things ran out and weren't replaced. But I was happy enough with the coffee.

The Comfort Inn has free wifi. (Never stay in a hotel that doesn't have free wifi.)

It has parking for a fee, but we decided cabs to & from the airport and Graceland would be about the same cost as renting a car. And if we had not taken a cab, we would not had met Roy, a character and a half of a cab driver.

Beale Street is a bit naff. It wants to be Bourbon Street (New Orleans) but falls short. So much so, we even preferred to drink in Hooters.

Whatever you do, do NOT miss the Civil Rights Museum. It is one of the best museums I have ever been in. I don't want to spoil it - Martin Luther King - Lorraine Motel - but go there. It is on Mulberry Street, between S. 2nd Street, and S. Main Street, 6 blocks south of Beale Street.

“Great staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

My family and ESA members come to the Memphis Marathon every year the first week-end in December. I personally, have stayed at your hotel for the last 9 years and think it is time to tell you what a wonderful staff you have.

They are courteous and very helpful and make our stay very enjoyable.

Earline and Christie at your front desk and Evelyn, your breakfast hostess are great and I hope we continue to see them welcome us every December for many years to come.

This year my 75 year old sister didn't think she could walk to meet us for breakfast after the 5K so she asked Earline if she could get a cab. Evelyn even went so far as to call her husband to see if he could come by to get my sister if Earline couldn't get a cab.

Well, the cab came so Evelyn called her husband to let him know he didn't need to come to the hotel.

These are just a few of the things they do that are above and beyond.

We always request the 3 adjoining rooms if you have them available and between Earline and Christie they have always been able to accommodate us.

We appreciate their warmth and hospitality when we stay at your Comfort Inn and we have recommended your hotel to many of our family and friends. In fact, my son and daughter-in-law were there this past summer and stayed there at our recommendation and were quite pleased.

“Great Hotel for traveling on an a budget.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I have now stayed at the Comfort Inn Downtown twice (previously in November 2009), and both times it has proved fantastic. It has a great location to be able to reach many of the main attractions of Memphis either by walking or by the trolley that only costs a dollar. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly. It also has a continental breakfast, which I always love. It is nothing too fancy but its a great way to start a day of sightseeing.

“Perfect for needs - decent location - walking - view Mudd Island/pyramid”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Stayed at this property for the better part of a week. It was exactly as pictured and described. Stayed in an upper floor room (corner) facing Mudd Island and looking toward the Pyramid. It was during the Thanksgiving time of year and the downtown core was not too usy with traffic, etc.

Given its proximity to the Interstates it was simple enough to venture out to appointments. Parking wsa very easy underground with full 24/7 self-park access (and lots of luggage carts down by the elevators).

There is a general common com, puter just off the registration desk (just one, however, and there was always a wait-time). It was good enough if one needed to print a document, et al.

Lots of coffee going 24/7

Breakfast was a better-than-average serving with hot items and the like.

Convenient to all that the downtown has too offer including restaurants, Beale Street, the Orpheus Theatre, Peabody and on and on. Even walked to The Civil RIghts Museum. Goood walking Town.

Hotel staff did their jobs in a proper professional manner. Cleaning staff was gracious and dilligent. Oh, the fitness Center was perfect as well.

All in all it was exactly as should be and stated AND goiod value for the money expended. Thank you!
