“Every need catered for”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

We had a lovely stay at Arduaine. Don't be put off by the front aspect, inside it's a beautifully appointed suite. David and Barbara are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Their attention to detail is wonderful and the quality of the batheries is second to none! There is a wonderfully wholesome feeling to all they provide, from the welcoming platter to the weather forecasts and travel guidance. We felt we were visiting friends.

“Arduaine B&B, above & beyond any other guest house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2010

We have stayed in many guest houses, but we can say without question that Arduaine has topped the others for attention to detail, attentiveness and the welcome we received. Barbara and David are very friendly hosts and most knowledgeable about Wigtown, the Machars Peninsula and Galloway as a whole.
The bedroom was spacious and lovely, including a huge built in cupboard with plenty of hangers, one of our bugbears with other places. We slept soundly in the very spacious bed. Having a lounge to ourselves made us feel more at home than you usually do in a guest house where you are often confined to one room.
Breakfasts were lovely, using local produce and home baked bread, yummy! We took some bread home with us, it was so good!
We have visited Wigtown previously, and the local bookshops are a treat, but there is also plenty going on culturally. There are quite a few artists in residence and their work is excellent. Barbara and David are extremely impressive guides as to which artist lives and works where, very useful if something has caught your eye. We ourselves went home with a lovely piece of art from a local up and coming artist, Mike Abel, who paints and photographs the local landscape. There are many wonderful towns to visit locally, Port William, Whithorn, Gatehouse of Fleet and the artists’ town of Kirkcudbright
In summing up, we would heartily recommend Arduaine, and its charming hosts, Barbara and David to all.

“Best kept secret B&B deserves recognition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2010

An exceptional B&B in every way even to providing me with a choice of gluten free breakfasts. Barbara and David are kind, enthusiastic and exceptionally knowledgeable about the Dunfries and Galloway area. They did not stint on their time in ensuring that we enjoyed every aspect of our stay. It was a treat to stay in their establishment

“Wonderful Experience-Treated like Royalty at Arduaine B &B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2009

Right from the moment we arrived, we were given a warm welcome by David and Barbara served us with tea and delicious home baked buns. Our accommodation was bright, spacious,(much larger than it looks on the web page) immaculately clean and beautifully decorated with lots of attention to little details to make us comfortable. For instance the beds which had white egyptian cotton bedding and duvets ,were turned down for us each night and 'goodnight' chocolates placed beside the beds. The en-suite was also immaculate and equipped with white towels and mats, hot towel rails and a supply of toiletries. We were given keys so that we could come and go as we wished and we had our very own lounge which was very comfortably furnished and accessorised with beautiful ornaments and paintings, equipped with reading lights and Television.Breakfast was a great experience. The food was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The portions were generous and very very tasty. Our hosts Barbara and David were very interested in ensuring we had a pleasant stay and nothing was too much trouble for them. They both have an extensive knowledge of the surrounding district and can advise on where to go, what to see, outings, touring routes etc. Lovely couple, they deserve to do well with their B&B. We highly recommend Arduaine for an extra special break if you want to be pampered! Barry and Liz Shenton, Barnsley

“Best VFM in Scotland (anywhere?)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2009

We stayed for 3 nights in late August to tour and walk Galloway. The weather wasn't great but Arduaine is. For the price charged you couldn't find better. As well as a large well-appointed bedroom you get your own sitting room with TV. Both hosts are very helpful and have plenty of local knowledge (useful on a very wet Sunday!) There is no downside to the place - the nearest would be that the shower room is on the small side.
Can also recommend for eating in Wigtown - Bay View Bistro and Wigtown Ploughman (restaurant within pub)
