“Wonderful experience from start to finish!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

My wife and I would like to add our own recommendation for Arduaine and Barbara and David's wonderful friendly and attentive hosting.

As has been previously mentioned, the accommodation is absolutely 5 star in every way, but that is only part of the captivating experience of Arduaine.

Barbara and David are possibly the most knowledgeable and charming hosts we have ever met. They are amabassadors for everything that Dumfries & Galloway has to offer and their passion and ethusiasm is quite inspiring.

...and then there is breakfast, here is a tip - set aside at least an hour and a half at the start of the day in order to sample the fresh fruit juices, the 'David-style' porridge with raisins and maple syrup, the local Rowan Valley yoghurt, the full cooked breakfast (all local produce of course!) and finally the delicious toasted home-baked bread and local Urr Valley honey - what a magnificent start to any day!

Wigtown itself is a lovely town with its many second hand bookshops and picturesque local walks and the people of the town are exceptionally friendly - we lost count of the number of times we seemed to just fall into conversation with complete strangers, but it was a very heart warming experience.

Our happy stay at Arduaine will always be in our memories and we would like to thank David & Barbara for all of their kindness and for helping to make our holiday such a pleasant experience.

“A wonderful treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

Barbara and David Levine are wonderful hosts who made our short holiday extremely enjoyable. The spacious Master Suite with its own sitting room were an example of our hosts attention to detail and their desire to ensure that their guests enjoyed exceptionally comfortable and welcoming accommodation. It definitely rates 10 out of 10 for my sister and myself. In addition, their delicious breakfasts were an amazing treat every morning - nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. We savoured local produce served "Barbara-style" - my mouth still waters at the thought of it. Their information on local tourist gems was extremely knowlegeable and so interesting too. Altogether the best B&B we have ever stayed at - we can't wait to go back for more pampering!

“Every need catered for”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

We had a lovely stay at Arduaine. Don't be put off by the front aspect, inside it's a beautifully appointed suite. David and Barbara are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Their attention to detail is wonderful and the quality of the batheries is second to none! There is a wonderfully wholesome feeling to all they provide, from the welcoming platter to the weather forecasts and travel guidance. We felt we were visiting friends.

“Arduaine B&B, above & beyond any other guest house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2010

We have stayed in many guest houses, but we can say without question that Arduaine has topped the others for attention to detail, attentiveness and the welcome we received. Barbara and David are very friendly hosts and most knowledgeable about Wigtown, the Machars Peninsula and Galloway as a whole.
The bedroom was spacious and lovely, including a huge built in cupboard with plenty of hangers, one of our bugbears with other places. We slept soundly in the very spacious bed. Having a lounge to ourselves made us feel more at home than you usually do in a guest house where you are often confined to one room.
Breakfasts were lovely, using local produce and home baked bread, yummy! We took some bread home with us, it was so good!
We have visited Wigtown previously, and the local bookshops are a treat, but there is also plenty going on culturally. There are quite a few artists in residence and their work is excellent. Barbara and David are extremely impressive guides as to which artist lives and works where, very useful if something has caught your eye. We ourselves went home with a lovely piece of art from a local up and coming artist, Mike Abel, who paints and photographs the local landscape. There are many wonderful towns to visit locally, Port William, Whithorn, Gatehouse of Fleet and the artists’ town of Kirkcudbright
In summing up, we would heartily recommend Arduaine, and its charming hosts, Barbara and David to all.

“Best kept secret B&B deserves recognition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2010

An exceptional B&B in every way even to providing me with a choice of gluten free breakfasts. Barbara and David are kind, enthusiastic and exceptionally knowledgeable about the Dunfries and Galloway area. They did not stint on their time in ensuring that we enjoyed every aspect of our stay. It was a treat to stay in their establishment
