“A First Class B & B”

We stayed overnight at this B & B before our ferry to Ireland the following day. We made a big mistake - we should have stayed longer! This is an exceptional B & B where cleanliness, comfort and attention to detail is second to none. We stayed in the sea view family room which had a double and a kingsize. A great room for a family and more than adequate for just the two of us. Pat looked after us very well and treated us like long lost friends - a lovely lady. Breakfast was brilliant with fresh eggs taken from the hen that morning! We will be back.

We have been travelling through Scotland with our Harley Davidson bike and trailor.
We had the opportunity to stay in the guest house and really were amazed about the hospitality of our hosts. Much helpful and what a breakfast. We definitely can recommend this place.

Outstanding farmhouse with history and a delightful couple that sweats over every detail.

“Will definitely stay again at Ballyett when in transit for Eire, or in the locality.”

We stayed two nights at Ballyett - eleven days apart. Clean, warm, comfortable accommodation with a most welcoming couple as hosts. The full breakfast is superb Scottish farm cooking at its best. (and most fattening!)
Travelling with a young adult daughter, we booked the largest of the rooms available, which sleeps three, and did not feel cramped, although the en suite room for shower and WC would not suit the seriously overweight visitor! The other large double rooms had much larger en suite shower facilities. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Free WiFi was available for laptop connection in the rooms, and there was a complimentary decanter and glasses for those favouring a nightcap before bed.
The standard of decoration is high, and it was very much home from home, and extremely good value. We look forward to more of their hospitality on future trips to Ireland. It is about five minutes or so by car from both the Stranraer and Cairnryan ferry terminals and so is an extremely convenient overnight destination, where you can be assured of a warm welcome.

“Our Best Stay in Scotland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2011

The couple that owns this B&B are lovely! The rooms were very clean; the beds were beyond comfort, everything you needed (shampoos, soap, coffee, toothpaste) was in the room. The breakfast was wonderful, with the traditional scottish breakfast accompanied by a very nice buffet. It is in the perfect location if you are taking the ferry the next day. They even did a load of laundry for us, which we were very thankful for seeing how we had just finished a long day of hiking in the highlands, and a little bit of a road trip. If and when I return I would for sure stay here again!!
