Just spent our final night of our Scotland holiday here & had a lovely evening. We had room No 1 which has a balcony & overlooks the golf course & the Solway Firth & the hills of the lake district. Beautiful. The bathroom & room were very clean & the shower was wonderful. A "real" power shower. Could have stayed in that all day. Would highly recommend this hotel as gorgeous views across the Solway Firth & ideal to tour Dumfries area. Very quiet area. Restaurant & Bar are lovely & food good with lots of choice. Would definately stay again.

The staff are brilliant they will do absolutely anything for you to make your day perfect everything was well organised and nothing was a problem. The room was lovely the views are amazing everything was very clean the food was brilliant and plenty of it. Perfect venue for a perfect day

We were in Powfoot a few months ago and had lunch in this hotel which was very nice, albeit just sandwiches.
We have just returned from an overnight which was rather disappointing.
To book the hotel we went on Bookdirectrooms.com, Double room was £90 now £65
We were put in room 9 at the back of the hotel, paper peeling off of the ceiling, holes in the walls, larger holes roughly filled in and left, very small flat screen TV, around 15" which was big enough for the room as this was just big enough to swing a cat. A very small bathroom but good shower over the bath. Our view from the window was of flat roofs and other windows on all sides, not good.
We had dinner at 8.45pm in the hotel but had to have it in the bar as the restaurant wasn’t open. Breakfast was also in the bar area and I have to say it was excellent.
We found that all the staff were very pleasant during our stay but the room and dinner let our whole stay down.
I could understand us getting an inferior room if the hotel was full but it was practically empty. If that was a £90 a night room it certainly wasn’t worth even the £65 we paid. What a waste of what could be a lovely hotel.

My wife and I stayed here in September 2011 and had a lovely time. We booked through LateRooms.com and spent 4 nights at the hotel. The staff were lovely, the food was excellent and the position of the hotel was superb. Our room, No. 5, was at the side with views over the golf course and the sea. Ok, the beds were a little tired but we were assurred that new mattresses were planned this winter. We too ate dinner in the bar and didn't see this as a problem. We often spoke with the Manager and found him to be pleasant and very helpful. Overall, we Manxies had a great break and will be back to test out the beds!
