this is a small hotel in a fantastic old scotish fishing village setting, I had been working in prestwick and drove down to stranraer to visit part of scotland id never been to, a local told me I should stay in portpatrick and so there I went, its the prettiest fishing village i honestly have ever been to , It hasnt changed in 300 years and id totally recomend you go there before you die ! anyway the crown, its a lovely old inn right on the front and has a small bar and eating area, the night i stayed there there was a folk band playing in the bar , started with two and ended up with 6 of them making the most amazing noise and scotish folk music not normaly my choice of music, this happens once a week and the atmosphere was fantastic, the place was full of locals as well as the odd foriegner,(me), and you couldnt feel more welcome, I ate in the bar and the food was good and reasonable price, beer great and will definately go back, didnt stay here ,(was full) ,so cant comment on the hotel part but for scotish hospitality in a lovely setting you cant beat it. totally recommend ...the hotel was full so I stayed at a b and b not far away which was nice and is owned by the crowns sister !
