“loved, loved, loved it!”

Spent the night at Knockinaam for our 25th anniversary last week. Had the whole place to ourselves on a chilly January night - the hotel was warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for Donna and Claire who looked after us over the course of the evening/next morning.
The Churchill room was wonderful, dinner was everything we hoped for and more - and we hope we don't have to wait another 25 years to go back!

My boyfriend and I are just back from a lovely break at knockinaam. The hotel itself is surrounded by nothing except fresh sea air, rocks and cliffs and the sea. We were greeted by the very friendly ann who for the next day/evening was a star. Extremely friendly and welcoming nothing was too much bother. The hotel was pretty quiet, however given that it was early January it was to be expected. There was no phone signal, however given this was a get away from it all romantic weekend this was no issue.
We booked the hannay room which we were delighted with, spectacular views over the sea and a lovely roll top bath, who could ask for more. What I was pleased about was the high quality cleanliness of the hotel and rooms. The bathroom was extremely clean and well maintained.
Would definitely recommend dining in the Michelin star restaurant, the food was of an extremely high standard, complemented by a very concise wine list.
Overall this was a Cosy, romantic and welcome break on the south west coast, would definitely go back and would recommend to all - perhaps more of an adult break in my view.

Room Tip: Hannay had splendid views in several directions, very spacious room, small lounge area and a gorgeou...

It really does feel like you're perched on the very edge of the world at knockinaam- it's not surprising that this is where Michael Palin wrote from pole to pole. when a warm and peaceful atmosphere is combined with sheer isolation, it makes the whole hotel experience greater than the sum of its component parts. would love to come back for the christmas package next year

Room Tip: south has got a great view of the sea and churchill a huge bathtub in which Churchill is said to hav...

“Great hotel for a special occasion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011 via mobile

Winter makes the breaking sea in front of the hotel even more awesome. Very secluded location and well off the beaten track, Knockinaam must surely benefit from word of mouth recommendations. I'd certainly encourage friends to pay a visit. Accommodation is cosy and comfortable. Food is spectacularly good and the 500 wines on the list, together with over 120 single malts mean that there is something for every taste.

Two slightly negative observations which I'd make - firstly, no digital or satellite TV in bedrooms is surely behind the curve these days. Secondly, whilst the bedroom was well heated, the public areas (lounges, restaurant etc.) were unacceptably cold and draughty.

Having said that......would I return? You bet!
