Having visited the hotel for dinner before and enjoyed it, I thought I would visit again. As the bar was somewhat full we decided to sit in what I presume was their conservatory area facing the back garden and smoking area. To start we ordered Pate and Mussels then Meatballs and a Sirloin Steak, to which I asked medium rare, pepper sauce, no vegetables or salad, but instead would it be possible to have onion rings, the young girl said yes. After ordering it wasn't until then we realised where we had chosen to eat was buzzing with fly's, wasps, daddy long legs and cobwebs. Regardless of where we were sitting at first glance after receiving our flawless starters pretty speedily I thought we were in for a nice meal, but it turned out nothing overly exciting. The main courses arrived just as quick as the starters but nowhere near as nice. Only one portion of chips arrived for two, an extra portion of onion rings and the portion of pepper sauce which I expected in a separate dish was abandoned all over the steak. Not only that I found it to be overly fatty and tough. The meatballs weren't worth writing home about either. None the less we never created a fuss, and were still hungry so decided on a Fudge Sundae and Chocolate Fondant Pudding for dessert. By this point the bar was empty but somehow took 20 minutes to invent. I never tasted the Fudge Sundae but apparently it was worth the wait, unfortunately the Chocolate Fondant Pudding was dry even though accompanied with ice cream. To top it all off we were overcharged for chips and the few onions rings I asked for to replace what would have been my vegetables/salad. £46 not well spent if you ask me.
