“What more can we say - perfect in every way”

Stayed one night in may 2011 and wanted to stay longer. Everything was great from the minute we walked into reception to leaving.Rooms beautiful and the four poster bed meant another stike off the bucket list! Hosts are great and it was great to have a restaurant on site which is fantastic in it's own right and I have reviewed separatley. Needless to say, breakfast was the best we had on our trip. Churches is worth the stay for the food alone!

“Superb in every Way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

From our arrival the experience was great - the quality of accommodation, the view from the room, the quality and selection of food and the total commitment of Lesley and Lawson to ensure that our stay was one to remember for many a day!!
This really has to be experienced to be believed
We look forward to returning

“Delight in the borders”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

The best seafood restaurant for miles.
We were,nt staying at the hotel, but simply called in for lunch. The menu was quite expansive and provided excellent choice for seafood lovers.Starters were scallops followed by very fresh langoustines. The quality of food ,service, and surroundings were excellent.I cannot remember a better lunch in many years of travelling throughout Scotland and European culinary capitals. An eperience not to forget.

“Eat what you like”

We had read the reviews and liked the sound of the restaurant.

When we arrived we were met by Lawson and Lesley who told us we'd been upgraded as the hotel was quiet. The room had just been refurbished and was a good size, if we had a complaint, we would have prefered a bath.

We were shown the menu, but then told we could have anything we wanted as they could get it for us. We took them up on this the second night. The quality of the food was superb. We ahd freshly landed seafood and an a steak that was so tender you didn't need a knife. The breakfast was good too.

Overall we really enjoyed or stay and would go back.

“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2011

We booked our stay on the basis of all the previous rave reviews and as we can only add to them, this review is a bit superfluous!
Firstly, Eyemouth is a great location for the area between Edinburgh and Berwick with some great locations such as Dunbar, St Abbs and North Berwick. However, don't just stick to the coast - try the little market town of Duns, with the wonderful Jim Clark Room and Coldstream.
Churches Hotel deserves the accolades it receives on a number of fronts. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped; the food is absolutely excellent with the freshest seafood possible. But I guess the thing that separates Churches from other hotels are the hosts themselves- Lesley and Lawson. Even though our stay was only two nights, it felt much longer in that we were welcomed into their home in a way which most hotels cannot match. They are the friendliest hotel owners possible. They work extremely hard to make your stay a great one. If we are in the area again, there is only one place to stay.
Thanks for a wonderful time.

We really do appreciate all of our guests taking the time to write their reviews and no, this one is certainly not superfluous as it reassures us that we continue to do the right thing in what we offer our guests. We also realise that people have many choices in where they can stay and we are always looking for ways to improve our service and the hotel amenities so that guests have value for money and an enjoyable stay. We always read our reviews.

The fish is as local as we can get as it comes straight from the harbour and whilst we may not have a secluded location, it certainly is ideal for supplies as we specalise in fish and shellfish. We source our food supplies as locally as possible and cook as seasonally as we can.

These people were appreciative of our hard work and they were the perfect guests, we look forward to seeing them again, anytime.
