Ignore the negative review, Strathfillan House offers an exceptionally warm welcome - we were offered a chance to get our wet coats dried, a lift into Tyndrum, and all the info and friendly chats we needed. Just a few minutes detour off the West Highland Way, this was the most charming stop-over of our trip. The house, including a beautiful church alongside, is full of character - wooden staircase, original fireplaces, chickens in the garden, even a maid's call bell-push in our room (only decorative, of course). Our room shared a bathroom with one other, but everything was spotlessly clean, and the view of mountains and waterfalls from the bathroom window was stunning. Oh, and the breakfast was superb too. If you're looking for somewhere with real atmosphere and character on the WHW, this is your place.
