“Good stay but could have been better!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

Stayed here with a group of couples as part of the Groupon deal. The positives were the great view, the lovely modern bathrooms, the fantastic food & lovely blonde male receptionist who said he was normally based at the Lodges, he was very professional & friendly on arrival.... The negatives were, no table service for even drinks at dinner, not the best of group seating areas in the bar, bar shuts early & u get put out & the breakfast, food not bad but more continental & the staff were not great, no help at all & were rushing around so much they struggled to stop & answer a query. Overall we all had a nice stay & will certainly return for some fish & chips soon.

“A stay to forget!”

My wife and I booked the beach house at this hotel for a little break after we got married and were looking forward to it, but unfortunately it was a stay to forget. Upon arrival at 3pm We were greeted at reception by 2 staff having a conversation about there weekend and we were completely ignored for 5 mins till they were finished chatting. After checking in we were informed our room wasn't even ready!! Told to have a seat at the bar, and when we asked for 2 cokes were told in an abrupt manner they only sold Pepsi! Poor customer service I think. When our room was finally ready the nightmare really began. We walked thru the badly lit underpass to the beach house and finally got into our room to find a strange smell. Then we noticed 2 giant cobwebs on the filthy windows. Next was the dirty, dusty tables that my wife had to clean herself. Then we noticed the rather large bluebottle flying around the window near the bed. The doors to the patio / veranda area were appallingly filthy. At that we decided our 2 night break would be infant 1 night because the place was that bad. We checked out the following morning and the lady at reception could not have been nicer, she refunded us a nights stay. It would be a lovely place to stay if it was better looked after by the staff. The views from the beach house are great and the decor nice and mr c's fish bar was excellent, but unfortunately everything else was a huge let down. All in all it was a disappointment to us and a bad start to our married life.

“Lovely hotel, nice location, poor customer service”

I visited the hotel with my husband on 5/2/12 for one night on a groupon deal. We were in room 108, which was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The only issue with the room was that it faced directly on to air con units and a grass embankment, so there was no view and the air con was noisy overnight.

The hotel is pleasantly situated near the tourist areas of Luss and Duck Bay Marina. The hotel is on the main road, so it is not really possible to walk from the hotel as the pathway runs alongside the road which is busy. However, it's easy to drive and sight see.

The food at Inverbeg was lovely and well presented. We did order a dessert, however after waiting 30 minutes, we approached staff who said it would be with us shortly. After 45 minutes, we cancelled our order (how long does it take to serve ice cream and a cheese board?). None of the staff we spoke to were particularly fussed or apologetic.

Despite this, we had a really nice stay. This was very much diminished later that afternoon when we received a call stating that we had not paid our bill. The female who called did not say that she was querying our bill, just made an outright statement that we had not paid. When my husband said that he had paid on checkout, the reply was 'well, how much was it then?', whereby my husband had to prove that he had paid.

I understand that accounting errors do happen, but I do not expect to be accused of a criminal offence when I stay at a hotel. I find this attitude terrible, particularly when I had overheard staff on the phone earlier to their IT support saying that they could not access guest accounts.

Overall, it is a nice place to stay, but after being insulted, I will not return.

“A great treat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I visited here last week with family for lunch. Very very welcoming atmosphere and exceptionally friendly staff. We had a lovely lunch, couldnt fault the food, it was delicious. The best fish and chips in a long time and some other very interesting dishes. Would definitely go back and stay overnight. Overall, a great treat!

“Great food, great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We purchased a GroupOn voucher and stayed here with another couple. We upgraded to the beachhouse which was lovely and even though we didn’t have a view of anything but the garden, the house is situated right on the loch front so it is perfect for a morning stroll before breakfast. I was worried about some of the reviews being negative but have no fear, the place is great. Newly furnished, lovely crisp white bed linen, stunning bathroom and of course the ideal location. The meal was delicious and we enjoyed drinks in the bar after where a band played which created a brilliant atmosphere. We asked for a later check out which was no problem to the hotel. Overall, great place and would definitely return – more so if there was another online voucher to help bring the cost down, but would still recommend to family and friends either way.

Room Tip: upgrade to the beachhouse
