Not the natural choice for a 2 night October holiday with 7 Adults and 7 Children you might say. It is essentially a stopover vanue for exponents of the West Highland Way and other hardy souls who don't mind wandering, cycling or hiking in the middle or knowhere.
There is a remoteness to this place that makes you wonder how long it would be before you started talking yourself and possibly other wild animals that live in the glens.
Anyway, the Inversnaid Bunkhouse is a converted church building that has plenty of room for families and single travellers alike. The rooms are clean and warm enough, though the sheets are a strange combination of a pillow case, bed sheet and sleeping bag. Ok if you are a peaceful sleeper. The showers are ok and toilets cleaned regularly. Possibly my favourite area is the lounge/bar/restaurant and games room/studio. The guys who work there open up all their gear for visitors and are not in the slightest bit precious about guests strumming guitars, bashing drums and using Lap-Tops. The TV is gubbed so forget X-Factor or Strictly. The food served is actually very good and not from freezer bags. These guys are very talented.
Overall this is a charismatic place in an absorbing and intoxicating location. The scenery towards Loch Lomond is the best that Scotland can offer and the view of Loch Katrine is something to behold. So, go, pack light and enjoy.... doing very little...near harldy anybody.
