“Clean and comfortable, friendly staff, convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2010

Small hotel conveniently located near the A84 with ample parking. Warm, friendly welcome. Room was clean and comfortable. Good, no-nonsense food in friendly bar with well kept beer and wide choice of whisky. Good breakfast in dining room with view over countryside. An excellent place to stay when touring local area or passing through en-route to or returning from the north of Scotland

“Not too clean!”

The hotel is not actually in the village of Balquhidder but on the A84 at the turn-off to the the village, quite well centred for a driving holiday. Our room was small but adequate, with a small shower room. The best thing about the shower room was the fact that the radiator came on automatically, even in August. Unfortunately housekeeping needs attention in this hotel. In our room the carpet edges and skirting boards were absolutely filthy. I doubt if they had been cleaned for years. And as for the state of the extractor fan in the shower room ---- better not go there! Reading was hopeless as light fell, because the lights in the room were very dim. However, after going to bed we found that an orange light outside was streaming in through the curtains(not enough to read by 'though!), so that could be a problem if you need darkness to get to sleep.
The restaurant was ok with quite a wide menu. This hotel is convenient if you just need to find somewhere to stop for the night, but I wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay.

“Had a last minute overnight, in a stunning part of the country.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

My OH and I, spent a lovely overnight at the Kings House,on Friday night (20th August).

We have visited the KIngs House on numerous occasions for a drink, and/or meal. This was our first stay, however.

Our room( no 6, and in brochure), over looked the gift shop. Maybe not the best of views. The room, however was very comfortable, and well appointed, with ensuite.

As this is an old building, do be prepared to hear a few creaks and groans( from the building). I felt that this added to the ambience, of a building, with history.

OH and I enjoyed a lovely meal, which we chose to have served in the bar, Oh had haggis, neeps and tatties. I had the panfried loin of venison. Both meals were to die for. We look forward to another visit soon.

“Nice place to stay for a night”

We stayed in the Kings House Hotel for a night during our trip across Scotland. First impression is a time warp back into the 70/80's but everything was really clean and food was good as well. Staff is really nice and helpfull - especially the advice on whisky in the bar was really fun.
