Nipping up from Edinburgh to the Highlands for the day we stopped off at Loch Lomond for a wee hour and a bit. The day was dreich and decided that we may aswell get some lunch in The Old Oak Inn.
On entry you could smell the food flowing through the dining area, we grabbed a table not too far away from a roaring fire... close enough to feel the heat. The staff were there in a flash, smartly presented, polite and welcoming with a smile on there face.
I had a pint of lager (San Miguel if you care) which might have been the best pint I've ever had... I think? My wife had a glass of merlot which was pretty decent for a gastro pub too (and I work quite closely with wine).
Food next and I was impressed that burgers weren't splashed all over the front page of the menu but the last page actually which I seen as a good sign. I had the haddock in bread crumbs with chips and garden peas. It was excellent and the chips seemed home made. Happy Face! My wife had the 8oz juicy chicken breast with loads of creamy pepper sauce, big tatties and carrots on the side. She loved it, the chicken was just as juicy as it said it would be and the sauce was brilliant.
I would definately eat here again and will suggest it to anyone who visits Loch Lomond (Balmaha side anyway) or anyone who does the West Highland Way.
Loved it!
