“Best deep fried Haggis in all of Scotland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

We didn't stay at the hotel portion of Palombo's but ate in both the take out and the sit down dining area of this establishment. It was day one of our most recent Scotland trip and the deep fried haggis was utterly OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS! We had it in every town from then on after, and though may a place had lovely haggis, Palombo's was hands down the best - So creamy textured and flavorful - if one can use the word "gourmet" to describe haggis, Palombo's was it!

“Not what it say's on the tin!!!!”

My husband and I were looking forward to visiting Loch Lomond, which for us is very local, only 42 miles away. Having taken a very nice drive to Balloch our first impressions of Palombos Restaurant were not favourable. Location is good for access to the train station, Loch Cruises and many other eating establishments.
My husband checked us in, as it was raining and i waited in the car. Our room was number 5. We proceeded up the back stairs and entered the room and I immediately noticed that there was one slat missing from the Metal vertical blinds, which were very dirty and dusty.
The windows did not shut properly and would have benefited from being given a good clean!. The floor sloped badly and if you put a pen on the dressing table it rolled off!!! You could feel the effect of the sloping floor when you lay in bed and was most uncomfortable!
The cushions on the bed had other peoples hair on them and had obviously not been washed in some time!
There were inches of dust on the skirting boards and when i had the misfortune of moving the bedside unit I found rubbish tucked behind it. There was also tissue, rubbish and a bottle of shower gel stuck between the wall and the radiator. The whole room was dirty.
The only thing I can say is that the bedding and towels were clean.
The lampshades were dusty and the ceiling light had dead flies in it!!!
The toilet had been cleaned and sanitized but the bathroom cabinet had toothpaste stains on it and was very dusty.
The towel holder was hanging off the wall and the shower riser clip was broken so we had to hold the shower head up in order to get a shower above the belly button!!!!
The room itself was not adequate to be a double and was really only big enough for a single bed . The room was cramped and the bathroom was smaller than anything I have ever experienced before.
Both my husband and I have worked for a very large holiday leisure company for many years now. We are very much aware of the standards that the guests we see expect to receive, especially during what is termed as the peak season.
We paid £120.00 for 2 nights bed and breakfast and given the state of the room I would not eat the breakfast. My only comment would be is that the restaurant did not look or feel any cleaner than the room!

“Avoid this B&B”

We booked to stay for two nights at this place but on the first night discovered the bed was broken. As soon as we could the next day, we reported this to the owner. She was initially concerned that we couldn't sleep in a broken bed because it meant she 'wasn't insured' but then said it it would cost her £500 to replace the bed and suggested maybe it was us who had broken it. When we reminded her it was us who had found the bed broken she got mad and threatened to call the police then threw us out. That was 10.30pm on a Saturday night. We had nowhere to stay and my wife was in tears.
