This was a stopover on our way out to the Hebrides, so just a one night stay.
Location:
Conveniently located just a few miles away from Tarbet and at the head of Loch Long. Its situated on the mainn road which though not busy by uirban standards is quite busy with quite high speed and heavy traffic which can be heard through the night.
There is off-road parking.
Bedrooms at the front have a lovely view down Loch Long but are noisy due to the road. The benefit however is being able to see an Osprey diving for its breakfast just 100 metres away in the loch.
This is an ideal walking location so a few day walks in the hills are easily achieved from this location.
Meals:
The Rowantree Bank does not do eveing meals, however the Village Inn is just 500 metrers away and does excellent eveing meals, and local beer.
Breakfast was a hearty affair with plenty of choice and friendly staff. I ate smoked salmon and scrambled egg, Best friend had a vegetarian cooked breakfast. Both were excellent.
Rooms:
The excellence of the breakfast was offset by the standard of the rooms, the furnishings and bed linen were inexpensive and worn, the bathroom dated. There was a damp stain on the ceiling. The shower seal was mouldy.
This will probably be addressed in the near future with ongoing refurbishments.
There isn't a resident's lounge which may be handy if there's a large group of you out walking and need to do some evening planning.
The propietor is friendly and does a good job, however the rooms need a little more effort and a bit more money spending to make it really acceptable.
