“First Class!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

This is a delightful B&B; but actually it is more like a hotel!
The rooms are spacious and tastefully appointed with so much attention to detail and lovely views across the loch.
The little extras like the sherry decanter,DVD's,CD's etc were most welcome.
The Village Inn next door is perfect for dinner.
Very friendly service and would certainly recommend this to anyone.

“Relaxing, immaculate and hospitable”

We stayed here on our way up to Skye and again on the way back to break the journey. Each time for one night only. We have a small dog and were looking for a dog friendly B&B. This is a small B&B with 2 bedrooms and is kept immaculately by the owner Janice. There is a twin and a double bedded room, we had the double and it was a large, traditionally furnished and spotless room. The en-suite bathroom was likewise immaculate. Other reviewers will have already commented on the finishing touches that are provided from the usual tea and coffee in the rooms right up to a small decanter of sherry and dog biscuits for any dog owners. The owners have obviously gone to some lengths to make their guests comfortable.

There is a pub next door which again other reviewers have been largely complimentary of; we also found the food and ambience there to be very good. The B&B looks out across the road (which was quiet during our stay) to the loch beyond. A very pleasant way to wake up to when you open the blinds. There is a burn that runs alongside the property and during our stay it was in full flow. The sound of that filtering through the windows was quite soporific to this weary traveller.

Breakfast was traditional Scottish with the usual bacon and eggs as well as haggis and black pudding. Plenty of toast and home made preserves. One previous reviewer commented on the single breakfast table serving guests from both rooms, i.e. you had to share it if you had breakfast at similar or overlapping times. Some people may find this an intrusion. We did not. I am quite happy to talk to fellow travellers at the breakfast table, comparing experiences whilst away from home. Both on the way up to Skye and on our way back we had the pleasure to meet and chat with 2 other couples who were in the B&B at the same time as us.

A previous solitary reviewer called Janice “abrupt” that in our opinion was harsh, perhaps they caught her at a bad time, we are all human after all. Would we return to this B&B? Yes .. for all of the reasons above but the also the little touches like when Janice gave us some sausage for the dog after breakfast. She obviously has a kind and thoughtful heart.

“A real little gem with every attention to detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

Our last stop in a month's tour of Scotland and we couldn't kave done better. Just two rooms, each very different from the other in terms of decoration. One, a twin room in modern, bright art deco style the other a double in heavier more traditional Scottish style. Both rooms are large and the facilities on offer were excellent. Good quality flat screen TV, DVD with plenty of CDs and DVDs. Shoe cleaning kit, torches, hairdryer, mending kit and so much more seemed to be stacked away for our convenience in every drawer.

Janice gave some good advice on where to go and we enjoed our evenings in the pub next door with good food and a roaring fire. Make sure you book.

Will definitely recommend this place to my friends.

“Beautiful location, lovely B&B!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We spent 2 very happy days at Burnbrae with Janice, fabulous walking (the Cobbler and Ben Vane are both recommended!). The pub next door had just the right kind of food on offer after a long day walking, and the complimentary sherry has started a very (very) bad habit.... Not that I needed any more (thanks Janice!!). Clean, friendly, and a great breakfast, what more could you want?

Thanks again, we'll see you again soon :-)

“Just superb......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

Stunning B & B on the shores of Loch Long. Lake view (if it ever stops raining), plenty of parking, next door to decent pub. Room far above what you might expect, beautifully decorated and every detail carefully thought out. The complimentary sherry and chocs were a particularly nice touch. Would have no hesitation in recommending this place.
