“You have to eat here if on Bute!”

We eat here every time we are on Bute and have never had a bad meal yet - so much so we've asked them to cater for our wedding!

The specials board is always enticing and has plenty of options for everyone. They also use local ingredients wherever possible, and are passionate about the food they produce.

Don't miss out! It's most definitely worth the extra few minutes drive!

We did not stay at this hotel but felt I had to review the restaurant. While Staying on Bute we used the hotels restaurant for our evening meals and each time found the staff very friendly and food of excellent quality. The large specials board had everything from steaks to seafood , the sea bass was excellent.

“Still OK but needs to try harder”

Only reviewing the pub / restaurant where the family recently had lunch. A good selection of meals from traditional pub grub (baked potato's, burgers etc) through to "fresh" fish and a large specials board. However, unlike previous visits, we were disappointed. We ordered lunch for 3 but the chef got one wrong and one came cold and went back into the kitchen to be zapped in the microwave! The fish was rather oily but the chips were great! Still a nice venue with some good beers but over-all I think the kitchen needs to get its act together.

“Great food in a relaxed atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

My family and I went for dinner at the Kingarth Hotel. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and the food was excellent.

Great for steaks, burgers and seafood, with lots of specials to keep the menu interesting.

“Fantastic staff and amazing food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

This is a review for the restuarant only - A stop off at the Kingarth and Smiddys bar turned out to be a highlight of our trip on a wet day. The specials board was full of mouth-watering dishes. I had the mushroom risotto which was cooked to perfection, the fish and chips was fresh with home-made tartare sauce, and even the kids menu burgers were made from fresh mince and now the usual horrible frozen ones. The kids loved the 'bunny area' out the back and the whole place was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return. Don't miss this restuarant when on Bute!
