“Ideally situated for an early spring break.”

Fabulous location with plenty of walks on the doorstep and stunning sea views from our room under the clock tower. The room was comfortable and quiet. The hotel was friendly, served good typical pub food and was obviously the hub of the community. We would definately stay here again as it offered good value for money and they didn't charge for our dog.

Room Tip: Quiet location. Situated on the West Island Way.

“I loved this hotel”

I stayed in this hotel for three nights in June for a wedding, hosted by the hotel.
It was a pleasure to stay in from the moment we arrived. The rooms were very comfortable, the food plentiful and the owners - laid back, fun and lovely.
It is the opposite of plastic corporate hotels (but it runs as smoothly) with it's tartan carpets, sloping staircases, stags heads and views across the sea.
I recommend this hotel to you all.

“Couldn't - care -less attitude of management”

My wife and myself and two other friends sailed here from further up the River Clyde on two yachts and went ashore intending to anchor for the night , have a couple of drinks and a meal in the hotel, sleep on board the boats and return home the next day. We were served with drinks and given menus but when I went to the bar to order food for the four of us at 1950 I was informed that we were too late as last orders for food was at 1945 !. When I protested my disbelief, it was met with a shrug of the shoulders from what I believe was the proprietress. It was hard to understand this attitude in today's business climate , especially as the kitchen was still in operation preparing food for people at the next table, but who had been fortunate enough to place their order before the 1945 deadline. Establishments like this do not deserve to stay in business and as far as I am concerned, the sooner they fold up, the better.

“Peace and quiet”

This is an update on a review I wrote a few years ago. The hotel is rather battered round the edges, but if you accept that, the location is just the best. The owner is friendly without being effusive. The food is standard bar meals but the locals and visitors use the place, so there is a nice atmosphere. Don't know if it gets rowdy at the weekend. I can't imagine it does as the average age of residents is well past retirement age! I did kind of long to wave a magic wand and modernise it, The stairs are pretty lethal and need new carpets. I and another guest who had mobility problems rather struggled. But...what a view! I would only recommend with a lot of provisos as it wouldn't suit everybody.

“Lovely views out from the bay. The owners...”

Lovely views out from the bay. The owners were very welcoming. After touring Scotland, I would be be hard pressed to find a wider selection on the menu and food was great. Couldn't fault anything.
