“Excellent stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

It's the owners and staff that make this hotel the place it is, they are fantastic! Room was good, a bit basic, but clean. Food was excellent and lovely view from the restaurant. My only complaint - The worst shower I've ever had in my life! The water is either freezing cold or scalding hot! Please fix this guys, as unfortunately for me, it's the thing I remember most about my stay

“More than friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

My wife and I had a one night break last weekend in the Brander Lodge. David and his staff could not have been friendlier and the food at dinner and breakfast was better than we had anticipated from a country hotel. We have every intention of returning.

Room Tip: After the proposed refurbishment of the bedrooms the general standard should be very good.

Thank you very much for your review it is much appreciated and I am so pleased you found myself and the team so friendly and the food good. I have a happy team here all local who appreciate what I am endeavouring to acheive and all are pleased to be involved in the operation. We are a family run hotel and all the staff feel just a big a part of the family as we ourselves are.
I will be in contact via email once further improvements have been completed with a direct special offer inviting you back to see us and so glad to hear that you wish to return anyway.

Once again thank you for your extremely positive responce.

Regards
David

“mixed stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

service excellent from start to finish but very laid back in attitude, room served its purpose not the best room i've ever been in but comfy beds tv that works tea/coffee facilities etc but hot water supply seemed to vary as other people got in out there showers and you can clearly hear what the people in the next room say to each other. booked a massage which was excellant especially at the price they charge was my first one but girlfriend has had several and says this was one of the best.
food and service for meals was excellant but we booked dinner for 7-730 order was taken at 645 and on table for 7 sure if we had asked for it to be left for later it would not have been a problem as nothing seemed to be a problem when we asked but once you know its ready don't like to sent things away

Thank you for the review and so glad you found the service excellent albiet laid back. As a small family run hotel we intend it to be relaxed in atmosphere and service with out being lax if that is possible although there is a fine line there I guess.

The issues with the accommodation you noted will all hopefully be corrected with the forthcoming improvements we have planned so I hope you will come back and expience the Brander Lodge again.

We all appreciate reviews and are so glad that you have taken the time and we have noted all aspects of concern and shall address same .

Kind regards
David

We enjoyed a 2 night Groupon weekend in the Brander Lodge and were well looked after. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. While the room was pretty basic, it was clean and comfortable and I believe the management plan is to modernise the rooms next year. One slight drawback would be that you really need a car if staying here as public transport to Oban is few and far between and taxi's extremely expensive.

Thanks John for reviewing the Hotel it is much appreciated. We will contact you once we have complete more refurbishments on the rooms and see if you would like to revisit sometime next year.

Being in a rural setting is a disadvantage for people without their own transport for sure especially if they wish to venture into Oban or elsewhere. We do however collect and deliver back to the bus stop and railway station in Taynuilt.

So glad that you enjoyed your weekend with us and that you found the food excellent and staff welcoming and friendly, we pride ourselves on both these areas so great getting such positive feed back.

Kind regards
David

“Brander Lodge- Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Stayed here for one night following an evening party at the hotel. I have also been here before for a meal. The food is excellent but moreover, the staff are absolutely brilliant and attentive. Room was lovely. Great comfy bed, good towels and toiletries etc. Overall, I would recommend this stay as excellent. Thanks again to David and his hard working staff!

Thank you so much for your very complimentary review and you are now an all round guest having dined, partied and now stayed with us so it is great for us to get a review so positive about everything.
I probably explained to you during your stay (as I do with most guests) the plans we have for the Hotel and hope that you will come again and experience all aspects as we re-develope and grow the business.

Once again thanks for taking the trouble to review so positively.

Kind regards
David
