“Good 'old fashioned' service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

We stayed 2 nights at this lovely hotel. It is very quiet and isolated, and the mobile signal isnt good (we didnt even try the telly!) - but that is all part of the charm of the place. We were met by Madelon who is delightful and very helpful with her local knowledge of walks in the area - we walked to Otter ferry via Ballimore House and also walked from the hugely impressive marina at Poratvadie to Kames. A particular bonus is the nearby Kilfinan beach.
This area is lovely, and the Kilfinan hotel an ideal base to explore it from. Food good (breakfast exceptional) comfortable and welcoming.....

“silence is golden”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2010

A bit of a hidden gem this, tucked away in a quiet corner of the Cowal Peninsula. The rooms, the atmosphere and the food are all very good so if you are looking for peace and quiet without having to compromise on quality this is the place to come. I was cycling around Bute and then overnighted here on the way round to Dunoon - the hotel has safe storage for bikes, unfortunately however (for the unfit like me) it is surrounded by some seriously hilly roads.

“Perfect wedding location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

Stayed at the hotel recently for a wedding. Andrew, Helen and Sheila couldn't have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful! The food was fantastic, lovely selection of wines, the rooms were lovely (huge, comfy bed) and their help during the wedding preparations invaluable. Nice touch that they closed the hotel to non-wedding guests. Also enjoyed the peace and quiet of no mobile phone signal/internet access/telly & radio reception!

“Back to My Roots”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

Our last stop in Scotland was Kilfinan Hotel, where I viewed and signed our Clan guestbook. The following morning we slogged through a bog, scrambled up rocks and finally - breathless - came upon the Clan Cairn. If not for the generosity of the innkeepers (thanks for the Wellies, mates!), we would have remained in the bog to this day. The hospitality and accommodations were superb, but the scenery and significance of the area was beyond description. It felt as if we had found our "zen." This place is worth an extanded stay.

“Perfect retreat... For firiends, parents and kids...wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2010

I never usually write reviews, but felt compelled to express how wonderful Kilfinan hotel is. Stayed across the road at Kilfinan House a month or so back with some friends and thoroughly enjoyed the warm and relaxed atmosphere Kilfinan hotel offered us when we came knocking for some afternoon holiday pints! Decided to come back again with the family and stay at the hotel. We were not disappointed. The rooms were lovely and clean..smelling of that fresh Lenor..and the food in the main restaurant, cooked by Helen, was amazing. Breakfast was a joy - clean and well cooked. The ever efficient and hospitable Madelon, along with the owners Helen and Andrew, made our break a fun, relaxed and happy weekend - thanks guys. PS: get yourselves down to the beach at Ardlamont point (I think) - the 15 minute walk is very worth it!
