Tiny little Jura provides visitors with peace and beauty and a delightful little hotel that put me in mind of the Fawlty Towers but the staff was so friendly and competent I didn't need the humor. Of course at Fawlty Towers, the humor was lost on the guests wasn't it!
The rooms are indeed small, not the grand style many Americans have come to expect, large enough to pass for an efficiency apartment, but they are cozy, clean and comfortable. Some rooms share a common bathroom (toilet) but we choose en-suite, so we had a full bathroom of our own with a heated towel rack. I like heated towel racks. The coffee basket included coffee, tea, a delightful malted milk drink and biscuits. Breakfast is included in the private dining room and was spectacular.
The rooms are small, but included in the price are a private television room (no tv in the room, how refreshing!) private dining room, lounge, and a private lounge off the pub so if it's raining you're not cooped up with no place to go.
A table is reserved for guests in the dining room for dinner, unless you have other plans in which case the hosts request you let them know you won't be dining with them.
We had perfect weather, just the right mix of rain and shine, The Jura Music Festival, the Jura Distillery across the street from the hotel, a wonderful drive along the roughest one lane highway (as an American I laugh at the notion that these roads are called highways) in the United Kingdom complete with Red Stags and views that are absolutely breath taking,
