“Going back for sure...”

While staying in a friends cottage on Jura, we went for an evening meal in the restaurant of the Jura Hotel and what an experience... it was fantastic, the food was divine the atmosphere brilliant, the staff were so helpful and attentive, it was cosy and warm and fairly priced - it being the only place to eat/drink for a few miles we had expected it to be quite pricey but we both agreed it was no more expensive than an evening meal with drinks than at home, which was a pleasant surprise. We will certainly go back and if the cottage wasn't available we would look into booking a room in this hotel.

“Naturetrek Holiday”

A beautiful location overlooking the sea and the distillery right behind, what more could anyone ask for. Our room was lovely. Food was great. Jura is an amazing place to visit and very easy to fall in love with. People are friendly and the wildlife is around every corner including a stag in the front garden one morning.

Room Tip: A room with a sea view is great. The rooms at the back apparently you hear the turbines in the disti...

“I left my heart in Jura”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011 via mobile

Jura means a lot to us being fishing and George Orwell fanatics. This beautiful hotel in the romantic setting of Craighouse is one of the best places I have ever stayed. It has a 50's feel to it, I loved sitting in the lounge and dinner in the dining room was splendid every night, loved the Venison which I had never had before. There is a separate T.V/ games room off the dining area which we would pop into after dinner, no T.V in the rooms, yay, hate it anyway. The views are stunning from the hotel and the owners/staff were lovely, I have often wanted to spend Xmas here but I don't think they are open then! Shame.
We used to live in Argyll and were able to make the trip to Jura easily, not so now but would love to return. Especially enjoyed going into the distillery across the road for a warming nip of their scotch before a wonderful day walking. I can highly recommend this establishment, just wish there were more like it.

Tiny little Jura provides visitors with peace and beauty and a delightful little hotel that put me in mind of the Fawlty Towers but the staff was so friendly and competent I didn't need the humor. Of course at Fawlty Towers, the humor was lost on the guests wasn't it!

The rooms are indeed small, not the grand style many Americans have come to expect, large enough to pass for an efficiency apartment, but they are cozy, clean and comfortable. Some rooms share a common bathroom (toilet) but we choose en-suite, so we had a full bathroom of our own with a heated towel rack. I like heated towel racks. The coffee basket included coffee, tea, a delightful malted milk drink and biscuits. Breakfast is included in the private dining room and was spectacular.

The rooms are small, but included in the price are a private television room (no tv in the room, how refreshing!) private dining room, lounge, and a private lounge off the pub so if it's raining you're not cooped up with no place to go.

A table is reserved for guests in the dining room for dinner, unless you have other plans in which case the hosts request you let them know you won't be dining with them.

We had perfect weather, just the right mix of rain and shine, The Jura Music Festival, the Jura Distillery across the street from the hotel, a wonderful drive along the roughest one lane highway (as an American I laugh at the notion that these roads are called highways) in the United Kingdom complete with Red Stags and views that are absolutely breath taking,

If I could, I'd return again and again, heck I'd live there if I could!

Room Tip: If you don't want to share the bathroom, request en-suite. Although the common bathroom was lov...

“Jura Hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here on this beautiful and empty island. Hotel is well-situated overlooking the bay and staff were very helpful. We ate at the nearby Antlers bistro -no licence but you can bring your own drink - which is highly recommended.

Room Tip: Choose one overlooking the bay.
