“Ok for a stop over”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

We just spent the one night at the grey gull. The staff were pleasant, good humoured and chatty. We paid £70.00 for a twin midweek in November which was a bit pricey. The room was clean and spacious but featureless. Modelled on one of those awful travel lodges or Premier Inns. Breakfast was good and served with a smile in a nice room overlooking the loch. The hotel was fine for a perfuctary stop over.

“Above and beyond”

My wife and I late booked a room at the Grey Gull Inn. When we booked we were well warned that the only available accomodation was at the very top of the house. Nevertheless the rate we were offered was attractive so we reserved the room with a credit card.
On arriving a week later we made our way to the very top of the house. To be honest, the room was disappointing. Maybe suitable for a man working away from home requiring an inexpensive place to rest his head. he would have to be fit though! It's truly, a long way up.
As the popular Grey Gull restaurant was packed, we set off to eat at another nearby Hotel recommended by Bruce, the owner of the Grey Gull.
On the off chance we enquired if the new hotel had a room. They had one left and it was on the ground floor. And again to be honest, the room was more attractive though also more expensive. We agreed to return and set off to negotiate cancellation costs with Bruce and Heather.
As you may imagine we were a little concerned but ready to bear some cost.
Although naturally disappointed the Kiwi couple could not have been more helpful and would not hear of payment. This is so unusual these days, it does them great credit and we thank them for understanding.
We are unable to make a review of the hote, only applaud and recognise the five star kindness of its owners.

“An excellent week-end party!”

44 (a walking group) of us had an excellent week-end party at the Grey Gull, August Bank Holiday 2011. The rooms were very comfortable - mine was beautiful, very clean, with a walk-in shower and the most beautiful view out of the ground floor window.

The food was excellent too - good breakfast with everything you could wish for. Good choice of dinner menus, everything up to scratch, well presented and the service was excellent.

The staff were friendly and charming - we will certainly go again if ever the opportunity presents itself.

We didn't need room service, so I can't comment on that.

Room Tip: Mine was Room 1 - hope I can get it again if I come back!

“Amazing, Fantastic, Hospitality.”

We are a walking group from Southport in England. Our weekend was just amazing.
There were 44 of us and we have had trips to numerous hotels in the past but by far this one has been the best.
The hospitality was second to none, nothing was too much trouble for the friendly super efficient staff who were always cheerful and eager to please.
The magnificent views over the Loch from the dining room were breathtaking.
The cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms were excellent.
The food was absolutely fantastic, excellent choice and perfectly cooked.
We will most definately be back.

Room Tip: Rooms with the Loch Views.

“Lovely Honeymoon Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

My wife and I stayed at The Grey Gill Inn in April for our honeymoon. What can I say apart from that we have a lovely time and would recommend it to anyone. From the four poster bed, to the fantastic food (breakfast cooked to order and steaks the size of busses). Managed by a lovely family who could not have been more helpful or do more for you (even if one of them has a terrible toothache at the time). I am sorry it has taken so long for me to write these comments and my wife and I (plus baby) hope to go back there for our anniversary.
