We stayed at Lochside Lodge recently and our only regret is that we only had one night we could stay there. What a jewel! We drove down from Inverness stopping for lunch in Pitlochry and for tea in Dunkeld, and Lochside Lodge was a very relaxing and scenic drive from Dunkeld well in time for dinner. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The Roundhouse Restaurant is very elegant and relaxing, and the pub room is huge and very comfortable. Gail is a wonderful hostess, she made us feel totally at home and was very helpful with knowledge of everything to do throughout the area. It's a very quiet setting, and the loch can be seen from the bedrooms which are on the second floor. Graham made us a delicious dinner which we thoroughly enjoyed. We wished we could have stayed a couple more nights, but we only had one week to self-drive around Scotland, and so we had to press on. Glamis Castle is just 20 minutes away, so this is a great place to stay if you're visiting Glamis. It sounds like there are some great golf courses nearby, too. One of the highlights of our trip was on the road from Lochside to Glamis where we saw a farm with at least a dozen newborn lambs, and the farmer came out to talk with us as we snapped photos.
We highly recommend Lochside Lodge and the Roundhouse Restaurant. It may be a few minutes off the main routes, but it is well worth the stay for the comfort, decor, great food, and very accommodating hostess. We guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy your stay there.
