“Wonderful place to stay near Glamis Castle”

We stayed at Lochside Lodge recently and our only regret is that we only had one night we could stay there. What a jewel! We drove down from Inverness stopping for lunch in Pitlochry and for tea in Dunkeld, and Lochside Lodge was a very relaxing and scenic drive from Dunkeld well in time for dinner. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The Roundhouse Restaurant is very elegant and relaxing, and the pub room is huge and very comfortable. Gail is a wonderful hostess, she made us feel totally at home and was very helpful with knowledge of everything to do throughout the area. It's a very quiet setting, and the loch can be seen from the bedrooms which are on the second floor. Graham made us a delicious dinner which we thoroughly enjoyed. We wished we could have stayed a couple more nights, but we only had one week to self-drive around Scotland, and so we had to press on. Glamis Castle is just 20 minutes away, so this is a great place to stay if you're visiting Glamis. It sounds like there are some great golf courses nearby, too. One of the highlights of our trip was on the road from Lochside to Glamis where we saw a farm with at least a dozen newborn lambs, and the farmer came out to talk with us as we snapped photos.

We highly recommend Lochside Lodge and the Roundhouse Restaurant. It may be a few minutes off the main routes, but it is well worth the stay for the comfort, decor, great food, and very accommodating hostess. We guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy your stay there.

“Loved the Lochside Lodge”

In June of this year my wife and I stayed at the Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed the courtesy we received from Graham and Gail Riley and their staff. Our bedroom was spotless and comfortable, however most memorable was the excellent evening meal enjoyed together in "Graham's" Roundhouse Restaurant. All thoroughly recommended.

My Husband and I only stayed one night and I have to say the hospitality was superb, we were offered coffee & cake when we arrived but declined as we wanted to enjoy our meal at night and I am so glad we did as the evening meal was exquisite, the service was first class, the bedroom was beautiful with wonderful views of Lintrathen Loch. We would highly recommend this hotel. Ron & Alison Whyteman, Aberdeen

“Welcome luxury”

We stayed here after a long and tough walk across Scotland. The room was spacious and well equipped ( a blind across the window might have made it a little more private) and the bathroom, with corner bath, was super. The dinner was delicious, very well presented and cooked to perfection and breakfast was also good. Service, mostly by the owners, was friendly and personal. Well worth a visit especially for a treat.

“A delightful retreat”

We have now enjoyed 2 stays at this lovely little hotel and feel privilidged to have found it.

Approx 20 mins drive from Kirriemuir, this small and beautifully presented hotel, run by Gail and Graham Riley, has the benefit of a wonderful restaurant, where Graham turns out quite superb food.

Evening meals can be enjoyed in the Roundhouse restaurant, which has a lovely atmosphere or as with lunches, in the Steading Bar. Breakfast too, is a fine example of good ingredients, cooked to order

Both our visits were the result of having to visit an ageing parent in hospital, which was stressful for all concerned, but being able to return to a little 'Oasis in the Glen' made life a lot easier.

With two teenage daughters, our preference was for the two courtyard rooms, which can be set up as either a 6ft double or two twin beds. These are wonderful rooms that are beautifully warm, (a major factor in the Glen) and additionally benefit from substantial bathrooms which include a corner bath and lovely walk-in shower.

With the stunning Glen Clova only 50 mins away, this hotel gives you the beauty of Scotland with the luxurious touches that really make the diference.

A stay at Lochside is not cheap, but equally, the standard of room, food and service sets it apart and we can only wholeheartedly recommend it, whether simply for lunch, dinner or a short break.
